Rasheed Marshall

Post by jdmills23 »

Has anyone heard of this kid? He runs a 4.3 40. I know he holds the Big East rushing record for QB's. You might be thinking "So what?" Well there is a very interesting fact that goes with this. The former records were held by Mcnabb and Vick, at different times of course.

Marshall has been invited to the combine as a wide receiver. Now I dont know if anyone would agree with me but, I think if we could get him in the 3rd round he might be another Randle el type of player for us. :D

I live in Ohio now just on the West Virginia boarder, Im from Wheeling W.va and have had a chance to see Rasheed Marshall play a good bit, You right in what your saying about him, He is going to be a impact player for someone in the NFL, he has good speed and alot of ability, I would love to see him become a Redskin, I think he will be a good player in the NFL, I wish Rasheed good luck wherever he ends up HTTR

I'm a WVU grad and have watched Marshall for his entire college career. As a QB he is so-so...an electrifying runner but not the best passer. A poor man's Vick. No one should draft him as a QB. It is good that he is going in as a WR. He has some great open field running skills but his hands might need work. I've seen him catch a few times (trick plays) over the course of his career and he can catch the ones he should but dropped a big one late this past season with the game on the line. That being said the team that drafts him will have a great runner with alot of heart. That's where it starts, hands can be coached. And if someone hits that guy in stride...goodbye.

He's an Antwaan Randle EL type player in my eyes, but like others said, theres no way he should get drafted as a QB

IMO we don't need another Randle-El type player, we already have a few that resemble that kind of player IE Chad Morton, Coles, Taylor Jacobs (not so much). Each of these players is extremely shifty and fast. I just don't think that's what Gibbs is looking for. I could be wrong, just puttin my opiion out there.

I wouldn't necessarily rule him out as someone Gibbs wouldn't look for. He played the last game of the season with busted ribs. He's a Gibbs type player for sure. Also I think he is more elusive than anyone we have. I've seen him make plays from squat. All that said I wouldn't pick him up in the first. MAYBE the third (if I had a 2nd rounder). :) IF he was available on the second day, though, I'd snap him up in a heartbeat.

lol... Very similar to Matt Jones.

Speed: Maybe Rasheed is faster, but Matt Jones still runs a legit 4.4.

Conference QB Rushing Record: Yes, Matt Jones holds that SEC record. Noone good held them before, though, which begs me to say that the Big East one is more the brag about.

Invited to Combine: Yes, Matt Jones has been invited to everything as a WR/TE, though is allowed to play some QB.

Difference: Rasheed Marshall is in the area you all live so I can't watch him much like you all cannot watch Matt Jones. Also, Rasheed Marshall played on a team that went to a bowl. Matt Jones played 1-on-11 football and lost close ones to texas, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolia by less than 7 each, other than Florida who made a TD in the last minute.

Also, Rasheed Marshall is probably trying harder to switch positions.

ADVANTAGE: Rasheed Marshall. Long term? Maybe Jones.

I live in WV too and have watched him play for WVU -- he is a horrible QB, becuase he makes terrible decisions. This year he made some plays that were nice but overall, I think the guy has on-going brain farts...

I would NOT draft him in the 3rd round...maybe a 7th round pick...as a guy that can help down the road.

Gibbs is not a guy that goes for guys like this...trick plays are not a huge part of his playbook -- except for the play that he made famous with Joe T. The one where LT broke his leg. The QB hands off to the RB, who takes 2 steps toward the line then laterals it back to the QB who throws a bomb...

Oh. My. God.

This guy is Matt Jone's black brother.

Then again, Matt Jones was a good college QB. I thought Marshall was, too.

smithian -- have you seen Marshall play much?

Last year when my Terps played WVU twice, I was absolutely pleased that Marshall could play -- that way, the 2nd string QB at WVU wouldn't come in. Marshall is quick but I thought he appeared to do dumb stuff...

Fred, I said I hadn't seen him play much.

He's great athlete. He'll get a shot somewhere. I think he could be a 3rd down back, Brian Mitchell-type player. He's very slippery, could learn the return game too.

Marshall is maybe a guy you get in FA, just after the draft...assuming, no one picks him. Sorry to be so hard on him, I've seen him play a bunch and he didn't impress me enough for the Skins to spend a pick on him.

Maybe I'm still holding it against WVU for letting McBrien go so this guy could start...Unbelievable.
