Bettis

Post by Champsturf »

I've been hearing a lot about not having a short yardage back. Is there anyone better? I think not. If we can offer him the right amount of $$, I think he'd be a perfect fit. He settled for a backup role in the Burgh, why not in DC? If we could pull him AND Burress, things would be looking up in our world.

What do you all think?

this is crazy talk...

I don't think Bettis is the type of guy to just go to another team for the money... especially only as a backup.... and especially since he only really wants to win a superbowl and we're not exactly superbowl contenders....

this isn't a game of madden people. You can't pick up any player you think would fit. Te arangement must be good for them too. Why would bettis come and play here. He's spent his whole career in pittsburg, he knows the offense and the schemes. Why would he want to come here and learn a totally different offense for just one year. Especially when the door is still open in pittsburg. Its not like they don't want him back.

How would this not be a good fit? How many schemes does one have to know whether to take the rock up the gut or play action block? He is a short yardage back. Just ask Duece. He'll tell you who took them the length of the field, only to let Bettis punch it in. It sure would've been nice if we could "punch it in".

I know this isn't Madden, that's why we look for good fits, as you stated. We don't look for the "best" players necessarily.

I, for one, really like the idea.

After all, it is OUR offseason. Gotta try to think of something worth talking about.

P.S.

He is a GREAT character guy. I would almost say, none better.

Frankly, I think we're just as close as Pittsburgh. Especially if they lose a couple of pieces to their puzzle.

We might think so... but we're definetly not viewed that way...

Actually BTP, I heard that the Redskins should be much improved this coming season. It was either on Rome or Patrick's show. I don't recall who said it, but I agree 100%.

Actually, that's not true. Bettis began his career with the Rams, and played there for three or four seasons.

Think about it, hes close to retiring. Why would he want to leave pittsburgh to play for the skins. He has been playing there for so long; it would be like...hmmm...Darrel Green going to play for somebody for a season. I just dont see the point, then again Chris Carter played for Miami one year. But, still I dont see it happening:!:

Bettis would be a great fir but it won't happen. If he wants to be a backup he could stay in P-burge.
GF is correct about the number of "NFL" Championships that the Beagles have; 3 pre-Superbowl area. The Skins have 5 "NFL" championships. Superbowls XVII, XXII, and XXVI, as well as pre-Superbowl championships in 1937 and 1942 (Slingin Sammy's days)

Because he's been replaced by Duce and wants one more payday before he waddles off into the sunset.

Bettis would be great for the Skins because he can be our goal line back and short yardage back. Always wanted him and we should get him.

That way of thinking hasn't gotten us a winning season yet, what makes you think it will now?

We don't need Bettis, we need a line who can make a feaking hole. Even if we had Bettis if the hole isn't there what's he going to do? Break it to the outside? LOL
