Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami (6-0½, 200)

Post by eread »

Mel K. has Antrel Rolle at 18th. With that...what does everyone think of trading down for extra picks, and getting him. I love Smoot as much as anyone but, he wants more money than he is really worth and this would give us a larger more physical DB to go with Springs, Taylor(THE U) and Bowen.

Go and get Jerry Porter or Plaxico in FA and use the other pics in ther draft for C, G TE and DE.

What does everyone think?!?

I'm not convinced we need to use a 1st round pick on a CB even if Smoot leaves...I'd go with Harris. When we get Daniels, Arrington and Bowen back, we'll not need a super star CB. How about trading down in the 1st round and getting an OG instead? Then get a center in the 3rd, a CB with the pick we get for Gardner. A TE and DE later in the draft that can play ST... Get Porter in FA. Just my take...

I do agree with you a little bit, but this guy shut down Larry Fitzgerald last year and pretty much everyone. Rolle is also a better tackler than Smoot and would give us another weapon for blitzing.

Smoot missed a lot of key blitzes when they should have been sacks. This guy is 30lbs more and 2 inches taller.

No doubt Rolle is a stud and would be a great CB for us for years...I just worry that we've paid a lot for Springs and can we afford another high priced CB?

I thought our OLine was horrible last year and we need to fix that more than we need a CB. At times everyone blamed Brunnel but I think the Line was at fault.

With all that said -- hard to argue with adding another stud Defensive player to our defense!

I know that he will not fall that far but, I think if we traded to go maybe say.....to 12-15 he should be there. The draft is going to be top heavy on WR, QB, RB.

This is ridiculous by far our biggest need is Wr. Draft Mike Williams or trade down and get a wide reciever. We have no clear cut No.1 on our team and Williams would get us that. NO reviever on our team got any seperation from the Db's with Ramsey we got some passing game going because he could fire it in there, but using it on a guard, a Cb, or even a De is ridiculous. Dockery is still young and could devolop, center you draft in the third round or second, Or defense is great and we are getting Clemons for the whole season next year plus Lavar would hugly upgrade our pass rush. Use the pick on Mike Williams.

Yes I remember him but what exactly did he do? He started one game against the Vikings and played okay but what gives you the idea he'll be a solid starter in this league or even a nickel cornerback?

We have to take into account what position Rolle plays....CB. To be honest I think there are 35 guys in this league that can cover as well as Rolle, but how many guys are as athletic as Williams or can rush like Dan Cody? Not too many...

I have been thinking about us taking him as well. This website had us taking him at #9 (This was updated today).

Now they have us taking Pac-Man Jones.

Last I heard, a few scouts were prepared to bump Pac Man Jones ahead of Rolle - IF - he can run as fast as he says he can. He swears he can run a 4.2/40 or lower...

Even if he does, and Rolle runs a 4.6 - I'd take Rolle. Carlos Rogers had a great year and isn't getting much credit.

Rolle is a better prospect than Pac-Man Jones is. I'd be disappointed if we took Jones with Rolle on the board.

Edwards is a solid WR but hes no better than Gardner was in college. He's not a Top 10 pick. If we wanna take a WR we should take Williams, he's by far the most talented WR in this class.

Please don't mention Dan Cody's name in conjunction with the Redskins draft pick, it makes me feel sick.

If we take Pac-Man Jones over Antrel Rolle I will go buckwild LOL. I don't care how fast PacMan is, Antrel Rolle is a potential shutdown corner with great size and PacMan is just a small little fast dude... Forget about him we can find a small little fast dude off the friggin waiver wire if we wanted too BUT I'm not saying he's not talented, just not as good as Rolle

I seem to remember a small little fast dude who anchored our CB spot until he was old and grey...

I'm not saying that Jones is better than Rolle either nor am I truly comparing Jones to Green. All I am saying is that no one thought Green would be able to play when he came in either...because he was so small. Speed solves alot of problems.

I'm not sold on Pac Man's talent. Frankly, I think he would have made a LOT more money next year, way more than making up for getting drafted lower this year. Maybe Kiper can pump him up to a Top 10 pick and it'll be worth it. I think he's a little immature and lacks cover skills. Plus, I don't think he's a good tackler... he's very fast though.
