Mel Kiper Jr. Says the Skins will Select...

Braylon Edwards. I'd prefer Mike Williams, but what the hey.

Could be. Chances are he'll be gone, but if not.

My preference in this draft is NOT a flashy receiver or a defensive end, although we may need at least one of each.

If we take the #9 pick my top choice for this draft is Antrel Rolle CB.

If we trade down for a lower 1st pick plus a 2nd pick, my choices would be the best player available at the 1st round and in the second round it would be DAVID BAAS Center/Guard from Michigan.

There are several solid but raw DEs that will not go to any team in the top rounds.

i don't like that pick.. remember what happened last time gibbs chose a michigan WR. i have seen every michigan game the last 7 years. edwards is a nice reciever but i'm not sure how well he would be able to get seperation in the NFL.
May #21 never be worn again by another Redskin but may every Redskin play like they are wearing #21 on their backs.

I agree. I want Mike Williams, but if we don't pick up a good WR in FA and Williams is gone I won't complain if we get Edwards.

I really don't see the need for a CB. I really don't see us drafting one in the early rounds.

I think Mike Williams and Braylon Edwards are the only receivers in the draft worthy of a #9 pick...i don't think they'll be available...antrel rolle is very unlikely to be available as well...if they are, scoop em up...if not, trade down...then trade down again...maybe even again...then pick up the best available lineman on either side of the ball...

Draft

Post by sch1977 »

Hello all, first time here! Being a long time skins fan I feel that if Smoot leaves via FA, we definately need to draft Rolle if available. Our D-line was mediocre at best, and we got by with minimal push up from because we had outstanding play from our secondary. If Smoot leaves, who is going to replace him? If he stays, I say we need to trade back into the middle to later 1st round, take a DE and pick up an extra pick or two.

Welcome to the Board SCH! Smoot still might be a Redskin next year - although the odds are against it. I'd say we still have about a 30% chance of signing him - he fired the Postons as his agent(s)/scumbags.
We've got Rolle on Top of our CB's in the Draft Section.

DE's

Post by sch1977 »

I think there are some good prospects at DE in this year's draft, but I Dont think any are worthy of the #9 pick. If we trade down, assuming we are targeting a DE, we can possbily add an addtional pick(maybe round 2 which we dont currently have). I would also like to see us draft a "project" QB in the middle to later rounds.

I really hope we don't get Edwards, I just have a bad feeling about him. He just doesn't impress me all that much. I hope that rolle is there at #9. If smoot does leave though, Charles Woodson is going to be a free agent and I doubt he's gonna be that expensive since he had a bad year last year. It would be nice for us to pick him up. Greg Williams already breathed new air into spring's career, he can probably do it again to woodson. I don't think we need a great DE either though, because we do have clemens who is a great pass rusher and we have arrington coming back as a pass rusher. I say if rolle and the infamous mike williams are gone , we trade the pick, try and pick up two late first rounders or even a first and a second. Draft the DE late in the 1st and draft a good guard/center in the second.

Canada skin Rolle will NOT be there at #9 so if Smoot stays we have other needs. Either Edwards or Williams will be gone also but maybe not both. It is 1(a) and 1(b) they are both good players.

Do you really want a WR that early in the draft-- again? How about trading down and getting the best OG and a 2nd round pick...get a DE or WR with that pick. Get the best center around with our 3rd round pick. Lineman win games...
