Sweet, we're close to contracts with Ray Brown and Joe Salave'a. I like it.

Gibbs also said that as far as what's best for the Redskins, Moss will not be a person we will pursue.

Looks like JGibbs tenure with the Skins isn't going to be as short as some of us thought!

This is related. Gibbs says he will be coaching the 'Skins for a "minimum of five years."

Gibbs Says He's Committed to Redskins for 'Minimum of Five Years'
Monday January 31, 2005 1:53pm

Ashburn, Va. (AP) - Joe Gibbs is reiterating his commitment to the Redskins (website - news) , quashing speculation that began with remarks he made at a NASCAR media day last week.

At a news conference Monday in Ashburn, Gibbs said he signed a five-year contract with the team, and added that he wants to do "every single thing" possible to help the Redskins win.

During a NASCAR media tour last week, Gibbs said his "time in football will be short" compared with his commitment to his racing team.

He then repeated a variation of a lighthearted one-liner he used several times during last year's 6-10 season, saying "If we don't win a few more games next year, my time in football will be real short."

Some commentators took the remarks seriously, but Gibbs says he was only telling a joke.

I just listened to the archive on redskins.com. That was a very good press conference, one of the best I've listened to all year IMO.

can anyone that has listened to it give us some bullet points as to what was said? i know some earlier posters such as Jake gave some. just really curious... stuck here at work with no speakers to listen to the archive!
May #21 never be worn again by another Redskin but may every Redskin play like they are wearing #21 on their backs.

Gibbs talked about our core group of guys and how we should try to resign them before going into free agency. He also talks about how Portis' year wasnt as bad as everyone keeps saying. Gibbs seems very happy with him.

The doc's have updated Jansens' status to full go. Gibbs goes on to say how happy he is with the player's attitude in the locker room.

Gibb's is still concerned about LA's knee and said it might require add'l surgery if it doesn't get better in the next two weeks.

Glad to hear Joe will be here a minimum of 5 years! :)

And after some thought, that he has no interest in Moss! :) :)
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

according to cnnsi.com, he said we're trading Gardner. Good news... now, to whom? who is supposed to be interested? could we get a second round pick for him?

Hmmmm... Lewis = #5 in the league. Edwards = #27 in the league. Williams = #3 in the league. We obviously have the talent but they need a good coach. What do you think?

I'm ashamed of all the Skins fans that want us to trade LaVar. What's up with all of this anti-LaVar sentiment on the boards?

We're not going to trade him... get over it!!!

Some speculation is that Tampa has expressed interest. I think it's up in the air though.

I've read that the Bucs and the Texans are interested.

well Gibbs also talked about how a lot of people dont have a sense of humor because he was kidding around when he said if we dont win a couple more games then my time in football will be shorter. So he made sure that everyone understood. And he also made sure that his return wasnt because he needed more money. The rest was touched in other posts

Guess my post got dumped. Gibbs has a great attitude, he's committed and Jacobs and Thrash are gonna get a lot of balls next year.

I am glad Gibbs put an end to the ESPN and other media garbage.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Every offseason, I have the exact same feeling for the upcoming season. But, so far it has not been TOO fun.
Don't get too excited.....we might not make it to the playoffs AGAIN!

Actually, come to think of it, I don't care if we don't make it to the playoffs as long as JGibbs continues to build the team and eventually brings pride for the fans of Washington. He does have some time, a minimum of 4 years on his contract left!!!! 8)
