1983 championship game
Hey, I was just wondering about something. It's been a long time ago and I was very young but I have a memory of this game and want to see if it's correct. Did Gary Hogeboom leave the field early and Tony Hill have to qb the Cowboys at the end of the game. With all the hoopla surrounding Moss leaving early a couple of weeks ago, it just brought this back. Please help if you know. Thanks.
If I remember the game correctly, and I'll check this in my reference book tonight, the game clock had appeared to expire and the teams headed for the locker room. But then the refs decided that there were in fact 2 seconds left on the game clock and so they called the teams back on the field. Since the game was out of reach anyway, the Cowboys just sent who ever was still outside to snap the ball and take a knee. It happened to be Tony Hill.
I believe that Art Monk went in and played on the "defense" for the Skins on that final snap.
I'll look it up tonight...
So definately not a Randy situation.

Right, nothing like Moss. The issue was that the Redskins had run the time down, but the clock stopped on change of possession. Most of the Cowboys had started walking down to their lockerroom.
As I remember, it took several minutes to enough Cowboys back up to the field to get the last play off.
Was Tony Hill or Drew Pearson the QB on the play?
