Amazing it hasn't happened already. I have to read the drivel Peter King writes about why (in his misguded opinion)Monk doesn't deserve to be inducted.
Peter King is ,IMO, partisan. He used to follow the Giants.
I'm sure he will argue that Harry Carson should be in the Hall before Art Monk.
King analyzes the stats and doesn't remember the impact Art Monk had on the field. Did he watch the same games I did? Clutch catches over the middle, keeping drives alive. It was all said eloquently by BossHog and TC. (Real nice job, by the way) WHen he was on the field, the team improved dramatically. That is part of being a Hall of Famer.
Every year goes by and they try to paint Monk as some journeyman receiver. It is just getting rediculous.
AND he is not going to lobby to get in the Hall. He always let his play on the field speak for itself. He still lives his life the same way, and is a pillar in the community.

If M Irvin gets in it will be for one reason. It will be because he works on television and runs in the same reporting circles as the 39 people or so who vote. Same way Swann got in.

"It's legalized theft, a crime, that Art Monk is not in the Hall of Fame. Those voters ought to be absolutely ashamed of themselves.''

Peter King studied Art Monk's stats?..Heres a stat Peter should study. Art Monk played wide reciever, the object of his job occupation is to catch passes. When Art Monk retired he caught more passes than any reciever that had ever played the game. END THE STUPIDITY!!...Put MONKIE IN THE HALL!

Had a good one going, but hit the wrong key. Boiled down, politics has kept such obviously qualified members such as Chris Hanburger (11 time all star), Grimm and Jacoby (on the HOF all-eighties first team), and Art Monk (best numbers of his time and more valuable to his teams swuccess than HOF members from the same time, such as Largent) from the Hall. I am stunned that Gibbs got in. Ask him what this years record would have been if he had Art Monk. His offense is built around several principles, and WRs who catch over the middle for first downs reliably and can block well downfield is one such pillar of the offense. We didn't and don't have that. The only player with the track record to possibly develop into that kind of receiver is McCants, and he will be offed since he (must be) carries personal baggage.

Will Grimm or Monk get in? Certainly not this year, probably never. Maybe I'm too close to Washington, but the rank odor of politics pervades the air. Sports journalists are much worse at objectivity than, say, a Dan Rather, and are never called to account for their admittedly subjective opinions. Don't expect right to triumph - we'll get the usual excuse of there were many worthy candidates who didn't make it. Scratch your head and firgure out how one of the two best guards and tackles (Grimm and Jacoby) of the decade they played in as judged by the HOF (remember, there are only 8 decades of NFL existence, and only 5 since two-way play disappeared) not only don't get in, but players judged inferior by this rating have gotten in. Then look at the number of Redskins in, and realize why politics dictates a Largent (only Seahawk) gets in and Monk doesn't. Finish by asking an honest man, Joe Gibbs, what this year's record might have been with a true go-to guy like Monk playing.

Do I really have to justify Mr. Monks case? Please do the right thing and vote Mr. Monk in the HOF.

Just old enough to remember The Posse

Art Monk has more career receptions than Lynn Swann and John Stallworth COMBINED and they are both already in the Hall.

Peter King needs to get his head out of his ass.

Art Monk had a great career, was the all-time career receptions and single season reception record holder when he retired and was a member of three super bowl champion teams.

Monk should be in the hall, and should have been there earlier. Thanks.

I don't even really need to sign this because he's making it in this year, no doubt.

Art Monk is overdue. He belongs in the HoF. He is a class act who has been slighted too often in the past by the selection committee. It's time to honor this great Redskin.

Art Monk is easily one of the best WR of all time and it is a crime against the game of football that he was not inducted on his first chance.

Aside from Art Monk's accomplishments on the field, look to his actions in the community and the fact that he never once embarassed the NFL. Inducting him into the Hall of Fame could help to remind folks of the days when "NFL" didn't stand for "National Felon's League".

*shakin my head*

I guess the votin' putzes got it WRONG, again.

What amazes me is that Michael Irvin got further in the process than Monk did this year, and last I checked, Irvin retired with ZERO WR records to his name, while Monk hung it up with 3...jerks...

We need to get politics out of this and, as previous posts stated, look at his #s + records.

Vote Monk :!:
