Software question

What software is available for editing pictures, such as avators and things of that nature? Is it photoshop? If so, is there a particular version I should get? Thanks.

Photoshop is one of the best if your gonna combine photos with graphics.... and the version really depends on how much you're willing to pay... the latest "Photshop CS" has all the latest bells and whistles on it but it will cost the most... versions later back will cost less but some won't let you do everything you might see out and about...

There's also alot of extra filters that you can either by or download that let you do all sorts of great things once you install it into photoshop...

There are alot of different Photo editors out there that will do the job... but if you want the best and will be incorporating graphics... Photoshop is the way to go...

Photoshop might be overkill, as it is very expensive. If you want photoshop, go for the latest version which is called Photoshop CS.

However, you may want to look at something less expensive like Paint Shop Pro from Jasc. It does almost everything photoshop can, and it is much cheaper.

Another, less expensive, program I've heard recommended is Serif. It is $99 to Photoshop's $650.

However, if you are a student or a teacher, i recommend looking for the accademic discount.

777 if you want to make fartsy things pictures etc. for the fam and what not... yes... maybe you should look into something alittle cheaper...

If your serious about creative quality images, graphics, etc... whether it be for a serious hobbie or a career choice.... I'd go with Photoshop....

I agree 100% with BTP.

We actually use Paint Shop Pro at work for some really minor image editing (really just croping and chaning color depth), and I find that it's harder for me to find my way around it, because i'm used to Photoshop. However, you CAN make pretty good graphics with Paint Shop. Or, well, some people can. I can't make good graphics anywhere!

don't really know a lot about the software, but try this: http://www.buysusa.com/ seems they have cs for $100. no tech support though.

You can get Photoshop Elements 3.0 which while it doesn't have all the stuff in CS, it probably has most everything you need. It could be good for you to test and get your feet wet, and it's only $99.
