Mike Williams is going to be the 1st Pick

Post by CcHhDd »

so can we please stop dreaming and realistically remove him from our draft board. I'd love to see him drop but I just don't see it happening. last year people thought he was better than Roy williams and look how good he did this year.

You don't think Jason White, a Heisman winner who has actually played in the last year, will get drafted above williams?

jason white? who?? what?? white is a stiff. what big game did he ever win? he got blasted by k-state last year and then LSU... and this year he chokes against USC. a GM has to be a moron to draft him ahead of alex smith or rodgers.
May #21 never be worn again by another Redskin but may every Redskin play like they are wearing #21 on their backs.

LMAO YOU THINK JASON WHITE WILL GET DRAFTED AHEAD OF WILLIAMS?!??!?! Dude I'd be surprised as hell if Jason White gets drafted earlier than round 4.

With the USC connection to California and San Fran... the fans need something in Frisco.
I don't think White will be in the Top 10 QB's drafted.

Williams hasn't played in over a year. Lil rusty. He could very well drop to number 9. But there are a few teams ahead of us that need WR.

Bears
Tennesee
Oakland

We still have Coles, and Thrash, and Jacobs.

I'd like to see the Skins get a DE, maybe the Dan Cody kid.

Right, and Brady was benched for Drew Henson in college.

You can laugh at me for saying White will go ahead of Williams, but I think you are nuts to think a player who hasn't been in a game in more than a year will go number one.

you think williams all of a sudden forgot how to play football? you think he hit taco bell everyday for the last year? i'm sure he stayed in shape and has been working with a trainer to insure himself of being drafted in the top 10. jason white is a STIFF!

Jason White might not even get drafted...kind of like Ken Dorsey/Danny Wuerful/Chris Weinke...good QBs in college, not NFL. Also, White has jacked up knees (both).

The starter of the thread said williams would be the number one pick. I say that is highly unlikely, since he has been off the field for more than a year. Regardless of whether he "kept in shape" he has surely not progressed in his football skills/ability/knowledge/experience/demonstrated capacity. What he a projected number one overall last year? NO. So, somehow his stock has risen by not playing?

i'll say it again. white is a stiff and williams will go in the top 10 as long as he hasn't forgotten how to put on a jock strap. my point of contention is white, and someone saying that white should go ahead of him.

Top 10 does not #1 overall make.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, this year the WR pool is not what it was last year. And WR are always in demand. We'll never see M Williams. Oakland, TB, and Chicago all need WR. And now there is talk of Tenn losing Mason, so they will need a new stud as well.

I heard that Jason White has been eating cereal and ice cream off of plates now. He doesn't seem to handle bowls very well. :D

Ok, let me break this down for you.

The thread starter made a ridiculous assertion that a reciever who has been out of the game for over a year would be draft #1 overall.

In response, I made an equally ridiculous assertion that a QB with two bad knees and who got beat down in two national championships would get drafted number one.

It's called being sardonic! Look it up.

Thanks.

I think that it's hilarious that all of you think that Mike Williams is somehow less valuable because he sat out for a year.

ROTFALMAO

I guess in that year, he forgot that he was such an amazing football talent... and so did the rest of the league. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that as far as the NFL teams drafting are concerned... Williams' lay off isn't that much of a detriment... especially when he's still the most talented receiver on the board.

I personally still think he's arguably THE best prospect of this draft. Will he go #1? Who can answer that question before free agency has even begun?

If you DO know the answer... could you please send it to me along with tonight's winning lotto numbers.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Boss,
I don't see how Williams can be considered the number 1 overall prospect this year, when he was NOT the number 1 overall prospect last year.

I said nothing about being out a year making him forget anything, but I don't see how it can have improved his standing. There is nothing to go by to make him the number 1.

The only reason he WASN'T #1 on all boards was because of the prodigy known as Eli Manning ( )

I agree with BossHog 100%. This guy may damn well be the best player even with the layoff.

With Leinart out - I'm hard pressed to find a better football talent than Mike Williams. Antrell Rolle is probably closest... but Williams has had a full year to learn the NFL lingo, prepare for the scouts and work out. If he's been around friends - or at least competent people - he'll be an animal!

... couple of factors:

1) in my opinion (and it's only that), this year's draft calibre is lower than last year's overall. There is still some good talent, but last year's cream was a little higher.

2) The only 2 players that I personally had above Williams last year were Taylor and Gallery.

When you combine both of the above factors, in my opinion, Williams is the best talent available in this draft.

He's a great player. If his draft stock falls off and he dips anywhere out of the top 10... i think it'll look like a steal in a few year's time. And the teams that passed on him will wonder why they let something as silly as a year off cloud their judgement as to whether or not he could play ball.

You have to also consider that being the most talented player in the draft doesn't mean that you'll go first in the draft... obviously there are other factors at work... team needs have to be addressed as well in many instances. Some teams put overall talent above all else, some teams scale it with particular needs.

It's always different... that's what makes the draft so appealing... it's always so dynamic.

Take this year for example... while I think that Williams is the most talented guy available, I don't for one second think that means that he'll be drafted first overall.

My 2 cents
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

dude, Cvillhog and CcHdDd, you guys should try looking at the FOOTBALL 101 message board.

And i also somewhat question the top 100. I guess Boss your right that there isnt too much talent in this draft and Mike Williams could be the number one prospect. But what i question is Having Matt Roth above Dan Cody or David Pollack, who has the same physical tools and body as Roth but Pollack plays with heart like no other. I also dont see Carlos Rodgers being the 10th best prospect. None the less, the draft section is great, and im no Mel Kiper JR. and for all the fans that dont get ESPN Insider, this is a great way for everyone ( cvillhog and CcHhDd ) to get help. I cant wait for your guys Mock Drafts to come out!

Great Job
