I still think that there are enough current members to allow them to vote for who gets in, instead of the media. There is no way that the national media can rate every player from every era.
If the members were responsible for voting, players who played with the candidates, either on the same team or against them would have a better idea of what type of player they are looking for.
The HOF and the Pro Bowl have become jokes, and if I were in either, I would feel cheated by what it has become.

The same can be said for every HOF in every sport. I think it's more the selection process that bothers you, rather than the institution itself. I would think that, to be enshrined among the very best ever to play your sport would be the greatest honor an athlete could hope for.
That's why I want it so badly for Monk. He deserves it, even if he doesn't think so himself.

Yeah, that's what I was implying...the selection process has made a mockery of what these institutions actually were created for.
The HOF was created to honor the best players, not the players the media likes. The Pro Bowl used to shocase the best players, now it is a place where the same people go no matter how they actually play.

This is a damn shame. It's like letting the media vote for President.
