Nolan was the offensive coordinator for the Redskins a few years back. I remember wanting to elbow him in the side of his head... ah, those were the days :0). I think the 49'ers have made, yet another, mistake.
Wonder if he'll go after Gus Frerotte to be his field general? Also, the Ravens D didn't improve under Nolan's leadership. The Ravens front office assembled a great lineup - I could coach the Ravens D tomorrow and they'd have been better than Nolan's script.
Just needed to rant?
Remember the QB coach when Nolan was here?
Remember Mike Nolan?

I agree HS that SF will trade down. Probably will look for defensive help since Nolan's a defensive guy.
I was telling some Raven fans this morning that they got lucky Nolan got that job. His defenses get worse each year he coaches them. The Raven fans agreed with me.

What a sad move for the 9ers. Glad to see that once proud organization will continue to suck for years to come.

I don't think you guys see the hidden message....
Nolan comes in.... does a crappy job... which we all (especially skins fans) will know he'll do....
49ers fire him next year, he's an easy fire, not a Crennel/Fassell who they would have to give more than a one year chance...... hire Pete Carroll after he wins his 3rd National Championship..... Pete Carroll gets Leinart with the first pick next year..... 49ers Legacy Rejuvenated...
Don't be surprised if they trade back and try to nab Mike Williams this year... :-"

Nolan is another fall guy. BTP beat me to the punch. But where he fails is that the 49ers front office is NOT solely after Pete Carroll.
Their main objective still is Mike Holmgren. And Mike wants that job too...

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
