Best Avatar?

Post by REDEEMEDSKIN »

We saw several new avatars cappear toward the end of the year, and I wanted to see which one the rest of the board thinks is the best. I know some cats (and kittens) are waiting for NC to make their new ones, but I thought it's be nice to get an opinion poll.

So, as of January 7, 2005, who's got the best avatar??

I vote for chaddukes'. He's one of the few who has Taylor on his. It's a great action shot, and I love seeing it come up on the screen.

I'm getting a new one soon, I guess I have until midnight to get it posted or I'm out of the running, lol.

Seriously though I like JansenFan's avatar, with his kid celebrating a touchdown with a bunch of cowpukes laying in his wake, it's hillarious. :)

I'm curious to know, NC43, do you have a personal favorite of all of the avatars that you've done?

I mean, we all know that you do great work without exception, but sometimes it's just gotta feel better than other times--any particular avatars that you just love seeing, having made them?

The problem with this thread is that NC always does a great job of fiting an avatar to requests, so everyone loves their own avatar because it's exactly what they wanted. :D

I always end up associating posters with their avatar--so if I ever meet BossHog in real life I'm willing to bet that I'll be surprised that he doesn't look like big #66 himself. Strange how that happens. . .

Better start learning Photoshop then... you already have a 100x200 avatar... you ain't getting another one unless you make it yourself.

You know what... a lot of you behave like spoiled children with regards to your avatar... you all act like we have nothing better to do, and that they're your god given right. In fact some of you behave like absolute jerks when it comes to avatars... I want this... I want that... i wanna proof this... I wanna change that... it's a fricking picture beside your name.

This site is run by the blood, sweat and tears of UNPAID VOLUNTEERS... it's hard enough to keep everything up and running... if y'all keep making avatars a headache for me & NC (like you are), I'll just get rid of the custom avatars all together.

... and since that pay pal button at the bottom doesn't get clicked on by ANY of you... we struggle to keep things afloat... and anybody who comes off with a 'i deserve this' attitude can pretty much blow it out their...

... oops sorry, wrong forum.

Let me make one thing perfectly clear:

I enjoy making avatars for the members and will continue to do so, just remember that all of us on staff work for a living and volunteer our xtra time for this site. Avatars are the fluff of the site - we love them because they are a personal reflection of ourselves and the love we have for the Skins - or so we hope. The meat of the site is in the details, the articles, the draft sections, the data entry and coding that keep this site running and vital. Don't forget what really matters with the Hogs.net. And hitting the PayPal button every once and a while would be nice too.

So....patience is a virtue. Avatars will be done and will be posted, but they are a privalege not a right. And don't think I don't appreciate the love I get from you about your avatars - it is very well received.

And I really like BTP's (which I didn't do) and TexasHogs (which I did do).

Ahhh... man... Someone move this to smack so Boss can finish the rest of the story.... :(

Personally... with all the stuff the site offers, I'd start charging people a yearly subscription... It would help get rid of the "rift-raffs"... and I wouldn't mind paying it for the content, and to be able to sort through less of the conversations to find quality stuff...

Just my My 2 cents ...

If anybody wants Photoshop lessons.. let me know, I'd be more than happy to donate my time to you ;)... (for $45 a pop :D)... Thanks NC for the praise... let me know if you're swamped and need any help...

And to get back on topic... DEHog has the best one... Warren looks like he just got done kicking somebodies....

So hard to pick just one NC just out does his self every time!! (Of course I like mine. All I did was ask for something with Warren in it and NC ran with it) but again just to hard to pick one!!

I have tried on several ocasions to do just this in the past and the message that comes back to me is:

Your payment session has expired. To complete this transaction, you will need to enter your information again.

I have very high security settings in my machine plus a Firewall and Anti-Spy ware. So, this may have to do with it.

Is there any other way to do it?

Thanks but no thanks. I have been attacked before. One time, I was attacked during a Skins game while I was posting on the game. The attacker was tracked down to NY City but I know that Ant and welch did not have anything to do with it...

The attacks on my computer are very sophisticated. Let us not elaborate further.

But coming down to the real point of the message, Would you join in to make a donation?

Now, Boss, am I still eligible for a new avatar?

Dude, you would complain if you made half the sacrifice BossHog makes for this place. Working all hours to pay the bills at home AND keep this place afloat. The staff does what we can to help, but 90% of the work has to be done by BH himself.

If your feelings were hurt becuase of what Mark said, maybe instead of flying off the handle, you should look in the mirror and ask yourself why it is he chose your post to comment on.

Avatars are great. I love mine and NC busts his butt to get them out as quickly as possible as well as to the specifications we all ask for. It is ridiculous the way some people act when it comes to these things. Are you the worst offender or even an offender? Maybe not. But at some point something needs to be said. If you don't appreciate the hard work that goes into maintaining this site, then take a freaking hike. If you do, then next time you feel infringed upon, think about how you would feel on an average of 3 hours of sleep, someone complaining that a free service being provided as if they had just paid 1,000 bucks for it.

NC43 worked hard on mine, and I've never even considered asking him to go through that again.

NC and anyone else who helps out - you hard work is greatly appreciated by me at least

Paypal does not like anyone who lives outside Europe or North America (it keeps refusing to acknowledge Australia at all, so I have great problems donating)

Not sure on what kinda super gizmo top secret computer you're working on... but if it's just a regular home computer... You have a better chance of winning the lottery than being attacked for the 2 minutes you have your settings disabled or lowered...

You could always send a check also... ;)
