How many points did the defense really give up?
The defense only gave up 221 points the entire season. I added all the points of offensive points only, not defense or special teams.
Clinton Portis 2005-2006 Season tracker
352 carries 1516 yards 11 TDs
30 receptions 216 yards 0 TDs
1/2 17 yards 1 TD 118.8
352 carries 1516 yards 11 TDs
30 receptions 216 yards 0 TDs
1/2 17 yards 1 TD 118.8
Steelers D allowed 8 running and 14 passing! Redskins D were 7 and 17, still very good!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I came up with 221 for the Skins too, but I have Pburge at 223, the Pats at 232, and the Beagles at 253. The Bills didn't even look close. So as far as I can tell, the Washington Redskins had the #1 scoring defense (our "Defense" gave up the least amount of points in the league)

I think we were the #1 defense in scores allowed!
When you add TD allowed rushing & receiving plus FGs:
NE = 9 + 18 + 15 = 234
Pitt = 8 + 14 + 23 = 223
Wash = 7 + 17 + 17 = 219
I dont think anyone else was close!

plus, keep in mind that a lot of those FGs were times where our offense our the special teams gave the other team the ball already in field goal range! the Defense shouldn't be held accountable for those, although i admit that would be rather difficult to track all those stats from the drive charts and whatnot. point is, the defense was even BETTER when you consider that a lot of those field goals weren't their fault (in fact they were defensive victories).
