McCants has hardly even played this season and Jacobs has never shown us anything. Doesn't it surprise any of you that Gibbs was so high on McCants during camp and now apperantly doesn't trust him to guard his bowling ball? Jacbos also hasn't even caught a pass this season.
I think that McCants or Jacobs COULD be good, but we know Rod Gardner is a pretty darn good reciever.
The year we trade Rod Gardner is the year that he catches another 8 TD's and racks up another 1,000 yards.

why is everyone "afraid" gardner will light it up somewhere else? who cares. good for him if he does. point is, he ain't doing squat here. kick his slack ass to the curb. both gardner and the team will be better for it.

I guess I'm just not as high on McCants and Jacobs as some people, I really can't see either of them coming in and being as good as Gardner. How will it make the team stronger to have either of those guys starting for us?

maybe you can't see them because we haven't seen them.... when is giving one guy enough chances, enough?
Wouldn't it be better to see if somebody else can step up or seeing what others waiting in the wings can do.... than waiting and hoping that 50/50 comes around and shows us that 3 ot of the past 4 years was an aberration?

Well, I hope you guys are right, I love McCants' size but I think a lot of people get rose colored glasses for him since he's a longtime Redskins fan and went to Delaware State.

dude. he rarely drops anything. and just about everytime he gets a shot in the red zone, it ends up as a TD. too bad he's on joe's shtien list.

just some silly stats... but if you believe in the philosophy that "if it hit's you in the hands, than you should catch it."... this year:
Coles: 94 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 7 = 1 drop every 13 passes that hit him in the hands
Gardner: 59 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 9 = 1 drop every 6 passes that hit him in the hands
Thrash: 12 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 1 = 1 drop every 12 passes that hit him in the hands
Jacobs: 13 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 1 = 1 drop every 13 passes that hit him in the hands
McCants: 5 passes hit him in the hands, he dropped 0
take away the crazy perfect 10 catch Dallas game from Gardner and he dropped a pass every 5 times it hit him in the hands... that has nothing to do with the QB can't get it to him... it just means the guy can't catch.....

Well it's not like the coach has a personal grudge against him. For the good that he's got in size and hands he's also got drawbacks like poor acceleration, average speed, little explosiveness, he's not great at changing directions.
You can fix Gardner's hands with practice and a lot of work, but McCants is the same age and you simply can't teach speed, or acceleration.

Not that I'm doubting you, but where do you even get those kinds of numbers? Is there a PTHTITH stat that I missed?

I really do hate that revolving door! It goes into motion during every off season. Since 90% of you seem to think dumping Gardner will be beneficial to this team I guess I'll go for it......but what can that unproven Jacobs really do? You better hope he does something, because dumping Gardner would mean defenses doubling up Coles all of the time. That would make it even more difficult to get this downfield passing game going.
Of course, McCants can go in there. Like you all I've seen his potential and I've wanted to see what he can do at number two. He's probably our best bet to throw in at that position. Remember the Bengals game? Gardner stepped out for a few plays because he hurt himself. McCants and Ramsey hooked up for two passes and 40 yards. That was awesome! If we are going to trade Gardner then we should definetly put McCants in there.
At least thats what I think. Joe Gibbs doesn't seem to like McCants too much. And if we trade Gardner and give the starting job to Jacobs; I will be holding my breath.

It's the amount of receptions that they caught + the number of drops they had.... everything else thrown their way is moot because it never hit them in the hands

I agree he drops too many, and should be traded, but if 59 passes hit him in the hands, and he dropped 9, doesn't that mean he caught the other 50? That other article said he had only 33 catches this season. What is the reason for this discrepancy?

Anyway, I obviously want the best for the Redskins, so if Jacobs or McCants is the starter next year and we get a sweet TE, C, etc. with the possible second round pick from Gardner then I guess I'd feel alright about it. I still think Gardner is a good compliment to Coles and I own 6 Rod Gardner rookie cards... so maybe I'm a little biase in wanting to see HIM do well.
I guess I'd like to see Jacobs get a shot next, he's a couple years younger than McCants.

Gardner is a bust... he was a pretty high first round draft pick... With a pick that high... you would expect Gardner to be a number 1 WR on a team...
He is the number 2 WR is Washington... and name another team where he would be their number 1....
there isn't one... he is a waste of money... ship him out along with Chad Morton.... those two guys are perfect examples of wasted picks and money... god our scouts/general manager sucks....
fire Cerrato....
See right now I'm on lettuce... Pretty soon I'll be on fries... After that.. The grill... And after that... Comes Assistant. Manager.... and That's When the Big Bucks roll in!
No, we should fire them all and get a college coach! This way we wouldn't have any expectations.
give me a break - To Joe, it does not matter where they were drafted or how much they make or cost! He and the other coaches are going to find a way to be a lot more competitive and successful on the field next year.
Gardner and all the others will be judged on their ability to help the team NOT produce stats!
These are the Joe Gibbs Redskins now and he has had less than 1 year.
Be a little patient and enjoy the ride.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
You may be right about that hailskins, but there are going to be a lot of changes here and IMO it will be based on what you mean to the team in many ways NOT on what you earn or where you were drafted.
I am not that bad on 50/50 as some are and my thinking was that maybe the coaches have him rated better than we do. D Mac would seem to be viable receiver but does not get the time! You have to wonder sometimes what it is that coaches see in Jimoh!!
There are some interesting things going on BUT this is almost over for this year and the roof is about to fall in on more than a few "players"
