It sure is, but would you rather win games, or worry about Danny's financial troubles?

Danny's financial troubles are not what I was thinking of. The fact that this money is being waisted to pay players that are riding the pine and could be spent on productive players is what bothers me. Salary cap is what 77 million, why waste soo much on back ups? Problem is if we cut them the salary cap hit is even greater.

Barrows Cap hit wouldn't be that bad, he signed a cap freindly deal last year 13 million but only 2.5 of that was signing bonus money ( money that would count against the cap if he isn't here)

His cap hit next year is 2.15 million if we cut him before June 1 we would save $67,000 and that would be the end of that. Cutting him after June 1 would result in a savings of $1.109 million then take another hit in 2006 of $1.041 million.

But I see no reason to release him, it's not like he hasn't fit into our system (he hasn't played) Where are we going to fine a MLB of his caliber for 2.15 mil to back up AP (He may not have played this year but he has been in this system for a year) 2006 we'll be looking at $3.417 mil in cap money if he's on the team. We should revisit this option then.

Regardless of who rides the pine, Pierce is a great fit and is a huge keeper!
As in past years, I hope that we don't see the need to sign some other overpriced and over the hill veterans this off-season to become eventual bench fodder...
Sincerely,
