Gibbs names Ramsey as the starting QB in '05
I don't have a link, but I read a quick "blurb" in the local paper that said Joe Gibbs has named Patrick Ramsey as the Redskins' starting QB for the 2005 season, while keeping Brunell as a "high priced backup". Sounds like Joe has either seen enough in the first 9 games to know that Brunell isn't the answer, or has seen enough in the last 4 games to decide that the future is now, and Ramsey is the future.
R.I.P. Andrew McDonough 9/3/92 - 7/14/07. Love & miss you, #20.

I hope that this is true. I've liked Ramsey from the beginning. The dude has a lot of heart! He makes dumb mistakes at times, but I hope that will change. You watch some of Brett Favre's games and he makes a lot of dumb throws cause he forces a lot. Brady made some horrible throws last night in their loss. So lets cut him a little slack.
I hope that the rumors about Matt Hasselbeck or Drew Brees are false. I say stay with Ramsey and get Jansen back, get Coles his toe surgery, and get a sturdy big back for short yardage (bettis-type), shore up the O-line, and we'll be ok. Could be a Ravens (championship) kind of team.

I think Ramsey can be great if we change our offensive scheme a bit. If we don't start to implement vertical passing, then opposing db's will be able to sit on the 5 yard outs and hitches. And if he keeps taking the kind of hits that i've seen him take the past 3 years, then there won't be much of a future for him.

I think it says a lot about Ramsey's guts and determination. In his heart he knew he was the better QB. He took it like a man and a teammate. He's been cool, calm and he's getting better every single snap of the football. Play calling is awful, clock management - worse and still too many penalties... all things that Ramsey has little to do with.
Also, I think it speaks volumes for the quality human being we have as a head coach. Joe Gibbs admitted he picked the wrong guy - and he's going to show Ramsey every bit as much loyalty as he'd shown Brunell. The difference is - Ramsey won't need it.

I am very glad that Patrick is showing that he can be a very effective QB. I also think he will be a markedly improved player with a better line next year.
I also think that Joe is not going to give up on anybody who he thinks can help this team. This guy is very loyal to his players and it will be very interesting to see who is still on this roster next year.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

This is Joe Gibbs your talking about. He has one of the strongest armed QBs in the league. His QB also has shown flashes of great touch on the long ball. Why would you even question that he will go vertical? It's Joe Gibbs. That's how he plays...pound the ball over and over and over and just when they start expecting it, hit the bomb. That's how he's always done it, and it aint about to change. He's teaching these guys how to play football and building Ramsey's confidence. Quit bagging on Joe Gibbs. He doesn't deserve it just cause your impatient.
Death to the EGO! RIP 21
Ramsey is a great dump off, short route, screen QB...at least that is all we've seen consistently. What could he become? I'm curious, and I don't want to see the skins pay another washed up QB big bucks to come here and win 2 games.

WHAT???

I hadn't heard about this rumor, but I'm willing to see this happen. Just for kicks. He he.
Sike. Let's go eith Ramsey, as long as he keeps improving. Otherwise, the #8 car is still waiting in the garage.
Back and better than ever!
