Wow, he looks amazing. They say he isn't the best CB but he certainly has the athleticism to be. He's been clocked at 4.31 and is consistently under 4.4. Check this video out:

They say that he's probably a third rounder as a CB but based on his return skills he might go in the 2nd.

Ok I may be crazy and remember I am rookie fan but is talking about this now all very premature. I mean some of our draft picks may be gone come draft day, having been traded with the whole free agency stuff. Or on the other hand we may end up with better draft picks because of it. Either way it's premature to plan for anything at this point.

BTW, interesting to learn that in the 2002 draft Rock Cartwright ran a 4.42 and did 30 bench press reps. Both of those were best amongst running backs in the combine. I don't know why we never use this guy more. Last year he was 11 out of 14 on third and one situations and he had a couple big games last year against Dallas and Seattle. He can play and he can block. We gotta get him in the backfield sometime, maybe he can fix our short yardage woes.

Yeah, it's premature but there are obviously certain positions that need to be addressed. It's fun to speculate about this stuff though and we do know where our team is lacking.

I agree. I think we need a playmaker at WR. Coles is a playmaker but I feel we need a Mike Williams to go along with Coles. I hope Jansen is 100% by next year. We need to upgrade our O-line, such as center. A pass rushing DE would be nice though and this draft's strong point is DEs. I do believe Gibbs will go with an offensive player with the 1st round pick because he let Williams have Taylor. Now it's Gibbs turn to get a player to help his own scheme out.

Yup, and we obviously need more help on offense than on D.

draft

Post by Redskin in Canada »

My priorities:

1. OL (2 or 3 positions, including center)
2. DE (Where is Manley and Mann when you need them?)
3. DT (to go with CG)
4. CB (sorry Jimoh)

I am happy with Cooley at HB and R. Royal is showing some progress at TE. I am happy with Coles, Taylor and McCants. I am not a R. Gardner fan.

Our needs can be fixed in the second round or even lower. I would trade my first round for a couple of second round picks.

You and I agree 100% as far as the categories that need to be addressed. I believe that DT should be #1, O-line #2, DE #3, and then CB. The only reason I put DT at #1 is because it seems to be easier to find a good hardworking O-lineman later in the rounds than with a DT. I think we should get a DT in the 1st round IF THERE IS ONE WORTHY of that high a pick. If not then I agree that we need to trade the #1 pick for picks.

So if the best player is a LB or a RB you say take him. That doesn't make any sense. You have to know who the players are that fit what you are trying to do.

I don't see a reason to draft on the defensive side of the ball early on, because we all know what Gregg Williams can do with no names. Obviously, our biggest weakness is our passing game. So we need to get another weapon for Ramsey, preferably a big target (Heath Miller or Mike Williams if we decide to dump Gardner). I think depth on the O-Line is critical, but I don't want to see us waste high picks on guys that are gonna sit on the bench (If we trade Samuels, use that pick on a LT). We need a big back for short yardage, and I'm not talking Rock Cartwright big. I'm talking a true RB that is a power back (Kay-Jay Harris). We need a young return man and depth at CB in case we lose Smoooooot or if Springs goes down. (Antonio Perkins is perfect, fills both roles) Use remaining picks to add depth in the trenches, but I would like to see us take a chance on Bryan Randall. We're gonna need a 3rd QB once we cut Brunell and I think he has enormous value the second day of the draft.

Please, Dan, fire Vinny and hire me. I'll make it happen.

I agree 100% with that assessment. What the Skins need is a second playmaker to help out Coles. Mike Williams would be the perfect fit. Everyone is saying about Heath Miller. He's good, but not great. I would like to see Kevin Everett in the 3rd round, I heard that he has a 4.5 time. He would be like Kellen Winslow of last year, but the Skins would look similar to the Colts if we add Mike Williams and Everett.

As for guards and centers, you can get real bargains in FA. I would not go on the draft for that. Bugel will have more time this offseason for the line, so I have no problem with that. Although, Samuels might be an issue with his contract.

As for DE and DT, what we have is overachievers, but what we need is an every down DE. What I like is get Courtney Brown in a very good price (which likely will happen) and unite Brown and Arrington. As for the draft, remember the first DT or DE selected last year was 14 by Tommie Harris. Everyone said Udeze and Smith would be in the top ten. They were wrong. It would go for a DE, but if we get Brown, we are set. GW has a good rotation going on. The only person I would draft a DE is James and Mattias C. from Boston College (Don't ask me about his last name) if he comes out.

Now if we are able to trade Gardner or Samuels or both, I think a CB would be a nice edition. I agree with everyone that Anthony Perkins would be a nice edition. I also like Marlin Jackson and a few others.

Here would be the priority list I like to see:

1st-get bargain FA's at the O-Line and get Courtney, no overprice players. If you land on a good pick, take Mike Williams, no questions asked. Tranisition tag or trade Gardner to get a second round for TE like a Kevin Everett or CB Anthony Perkins.

2nd-Keep Samuels, possibly try to sign Plaxico Burress to replace Gardner, trade the draft picks to get in better position for depth.

3rd-Keep Samuels and Gardner, go in the draft to make a blockbuster trade, possibly for a second corner or a D-linemen. Get the best player possible. There's a catch, I would like to have Vincent Johnson from Northern Colorado (Mike Williams lite).

Alright, there you go, going back to studying.

I doubt we are ever going to sign Burress... he's NOT a Joe Gibbs type of player... and Mike Williams, the Flashy Name, and the Big Contract and all, is not needed... The guy isn't known for his speed, and if there's one thing we need at WR it's speed...

Would I like him... yes... is he necessary to win... no....

We already have Burress...his name is Gardner. Burress is erratic. He had a good season this year, but doesn't everyone have a good year in a contract season?
