Hey, Darnerian!

Very cool of you to stop by here. We're all ECSTATIC that you've stayed in Washington, especially those of us who remember the FIRST reign of Joe Gibbs, cuz you would've fit in perfectly with that group of receivers.

Don't really have a question per se, but a request:

I ...

ahh - pardee. that's a good reminder that painful seasons can lead to great things. ala - gibbs take one.

pardee coached houston for a few seasons - and a usfl team if i remember correctly. they weren't too bad, but they were no gibbs-skins.

it's funny thinking back that the st. louis cardinals ...

What If? The 1979 Redskins

I remember the night well to this day.

I had to take part in a stupid Christmas Play at my church (I was a wise man, I think), so I had to leave my beloved Redskins game in the first half. And they were playing Dallas.

Well, they were up 17-0, so I figured I could at least leave in peace ...

The '83 team was arguably the best in franchise history. They just obliterated everyone (although the '91 team did, too). I think they just got complacent and believed they couldn't be beaten. You could see that creeping in during the NFC Championship against the niners that year, a game they ...

I remember when Moseley kicked for Cleveland, I think he missed about four field goals in a playoff game and FINALLY made a short one in overtime to win it.

He definitely had a window of a couple years where he was as good as any kicker in the league, but I agree with CP that he was overrated ...

It seemed like the Eagles/Bucs was turning into a pretty heavy rivalry over the last couple years, too, but yeah, nothing can touch the history of the Redskins/Cowboys rivalries.

They've owned us the last five years or so, but our time is coming around again. And we've owned THEM in the games ...

Michael is definitely a cheeseball, but that's why I like him. I enjoy him the same way I used to enjoy Howard Cosell as a kid - it was like you enjoyed despising him. In my opinion, he's a lot more entertaining than some of these robots that do the sports these days.

As for Herzog, I'll ...

Wow, thank you! site there.

So, Moseley was basically average, maybe on the lower end of average, with a 68percent all time accuracy rating.

Lohmiller I see was up in the seventies, and even Tony Zendejas had a higher rating, though I'm sure his total attempts were much lower.

Did ...

Overall, Did Moseley Suck?

I've been rewatching some of the old games recently, and what's become very apparent is that Moseley missed a LOT of field goals, and even extra points. I'd totally forgotten that he missed FOUR field goals in the 83 NFC Championship game against the niners, almost costing us the game.

I know he ...

George Michael is awesome - I love that dingbat. He's been my source for Redskins coverage since I was a fetus.

I hope we don't trade him. He's another fiery character that this team desperately needs. We need more of his intensity on defense. He's not going to the Hall of Fame, but he's a Gibbs-type player who leaves everything on the field, and that's someone we need to keep.

Don't forget the one thing that no one here seems to have mentioned. Gibbs wants what he himself calls "Redskin players." What is a "Redskin Player?" He's never really defined it, but I think it's a guy who's relatively blue collar (as far as millionaire athletes go), who's smart about the game, who ...

Terrell truly was Terrell-ble. He pretty much had no business being on a professional football field, certainly not as a starter. So many big plays I can remember him giving up. Glad to hear we didn't resign him. I was amazed he lasted with the team as long as he did!

Yes, I agree totally about the media, and my point in the first message was that I don't believe Snyder willingly screwed Lavar, because I just don't think he's that stupid. Did Snyder Screw Lavar

Anyone read today's washington post? Lavar is very honest in an article, claiming "I know what the Redskins did to me," and "I learned never to trust the Redskins front office."

I've never been Snyder's biggest fan, but I can't at all understand why he would try to cheat Arrington out of money ...

Any Hope for Herzog?

So, is the Larry Michael thing pretty much a done deal now? I know there was a big push to get Frank back, but from reading a poll at washingtonpost.com, it looks like the vast majority are happy to give Michael a chance.

I will miss Frank a lot, but I have to say, I like Larry Michael quite a ...

L. Coles vs. Gary Clark - I think that's a good comparison SO FAR.

R. Gardner vs. Art Monk - not even in the same universe, as far as I'm concerned. Monk was much better, much classier. Maybe some physical similarities, but that's where it ends

T. Jacobs vs. R. Sanders - I have no idea, as I ...

YES, Gardner does not sit too well with me at times. I don't like his demeanor, and I hate when he makes the first down sign after a five yard catch. Once he even made the sign and it WASN'T a first down. Just catch the ball, go back to the huddle, repeat. Simple.

He's big and has a good reach ...

Yeah, Spurrier got five games his first year, too, and to him the highlight of his whole pro coaching career seemed to be (say it with me)..."OSAKA."

We already HAVE a diamond in the rough in McCants. I don't advocate keeping him "at any cost," but if we can swing it, we need to do what we can to keep him here. He makes big plays in the clutch and isn't afraid to take a hit. You can't coach that stuff.

Five preseason games too many?

For the second time in three years, we're scheduled for 5 preseason games. Personally, I think that's way too many. After all the key injuries last year in preseason around the league, I thought the NFL was really going to look hard at shortening the preseason. Doesn't seem like they did. We lost ...

McCants is an extremely valuable player. They really MUST match the offer if at all possible. He's the kind of guy that will just thrive under Gibbs. He's not a prima donna, he's blue collar all the way, and he seems to be a guy of character. Anyone ever see his artwork? It's great stuff.
