Re: Jay Gruden ... Top Candidate

My biggest downfall with Gruden is the other coaches that are out there. I mean Bevell and Roman both have shown they can build offenses around young QB's who are similar to RG. Also offenses that have a power back and not the most talent at the WR position.. that sounds like the Redskins to me :)

Re: Jay Gruden ... Top Candidate

I like Roman also.. I think he could bring some of that toughness they have in SF to the East coast. I also like the offense he runs in SF I think it could work with the players we have on Offense now. The o-line is designed for a run first offense, personnel wise RG/ Kapernick, Morris/ Gore, Reed ...

Re: Jay Gruden ... Top Candidate

I feel that he would be a better fit because being that he has little experience I believe he would be more open to things. For example building a staff around him. Rather then have his "boys" already he could do a little shopping with what would fit best with our personal. I also like how he has ...

Re: Jay Gruden ... Top Candidate

What is everyones thoughts on James Franklin? He has only been an intern in the NFL not sure if that is enough experience. I think he would be a better fit then Gruden. My top 3 would be Greg Roman, Darrell Bevell and James Franklin..

I also was a bit shocked at first. I thought wow i believe there was better CBs out there. BUT he will be moving to FS and if you think about it that is a perfect move for a guy like that. He is a zone corner who is big and long. he will play that center field sometime down the road that we need and ...

Slay is a beast. Ran the fastest 40 time at the combine out of the DBs. J Banks is good from MSU, he's got the size. Lacks the speed but is a shut down corner. Won the Thorpe award. I like Elam from Florida, could be an instant starter depending on Jackson and Meriweather's status.

I agree ...

Yeah the more I read up on potential players for us to draft with our first two picks the more I learn they have been in ...

I Coach at high school here in AZ and we do a lot of similar drills for tackling. Don't get this confused with the video of the player flying through the air at RG3. This is not teaching kids to leave there feet when they tackle almost like supermanning into the ball carrier. NO NO NO!! That would ...

My honest opinion I see slay being gone early second round by Jags, Titans, Tampa or Carolina so it's kinda a dream world that he slips down to us. But realistically I see us getting Safety Matt Elam and if you havent seen his highlight film here it is!!!

Round 2: David Amerson, CB NC State
Round 3: Tyrann Mathieu, CB LSU
Round 4: Shamarko Thomas, Safety Syracuse
Round 5: Xavier Nixon, OT Florida

Haven't heard of slay? He is ranked in top 10 CBs in the draft and many have him in the top 5! But he might not even be available for us in the second round!

But the more I do my research I really think with all the CB talent in the draft I am not sure if we have to go with a CB in the ...

The best coverage is a good pass rush!! So getting Orakpo back will help that a lot but are secondary still needs some work and someone to replace D hall! I feel like there is a lot more to adress than the WR position but if he is there late in the third which I highly doubt... I would snag him up!

You build a team through the draft!! Free agency is good if you need one specific type of player. But remember they are free agents for a reason 1 they want tones of money and the team they play for can't afford that or the team feels they don't deserve it. They don't feel they deserve it b/c of age ...

WR Chris Harper would be a good fit with one of the two 5th round picks!! Very big physical guy something we don't have! We have the speed and players like Garcon who are great deep threats but we are missing a physical Wr who can just move the chains and also block for all of our bubble screens!!

First 5 picks!!

I have put a lot of time into breaking down players and grading them for the Redskins needs and fits. Let me know what you think of my thoughts and ideas for the skins 2013 draft.

Round 2 : [size=18] CB Darius Slay or Jamar Taylor If not either of them available go S Matt Elam

( If they go ...

Darius Slay or Jamar Taylor they are both studs I would be more than happy if we could get either of them with the 51st pick. Stay away from Trafant! Trafant if you break down his film is way overhyped.. physical yes but they CB that make it best in the league are guys who can cover great man to man ...
