The Media

Ive been sick of the media making a fuss about gibbs. In the preseason they were hailing Snyder for getting Gibbs back. They were all saying that Gibbs would take us back to glory but it would take a couple of years to get his guys in. But now when the losses start piling up on year one they join the bandwagon and claim the games passed him by. Its rediculous when they claimed it would take a couple of years and when there predictions are actually coming true they try to call gibbs out. Give the guy some faith he deserves it. He knows whos capable of what and will call plays with the knowledge of whos capable of doing the play.

I agree with you...except I do believe they have to do something about getting the play in a little bit quicker.
I'm not sure if that is Gibbs' fault or Breaux's fault. But Gibbs has to figure this problem out.

Don't worry... their flip-flopping, will only make it that much better when we start winning again. Every game Patricks been in, he's gotten better... Joe will have him ready next year...

That is why I never listen to the media. They don't know what they are talking about in sports and in politics.

Gibbs said yesterday that he would practice with a shorter play clock, just to work on getting the plays ready quicker.

*

Reading that, I remembered that the Buffalo Bills used to run a no-huddle offense. It rattled the defenses, who couldn't get their player-packages on the field quick enough.

Gibbs and Pettibon did two things for SB 26:

- Pettibon got the Redskin defense working so quickly that he could change his players just as he would for any other offense. Practice, practice.

- Gibbs, Hannifan, and the rest worked up a change to the Redskins offense. Sometime about the beginning of the 2nd quarter, Gibbs gave the signal, and the Redskins began to run the no-huddle. Better than the Bills, as a matter of fact.

So...I trust that Gibbs will get this fixed.

Absolutely right. How many of you have you heard an announcer change from praise to critcism and back -within- a game, let alone between games, based on the latest score?

Does the name Collinsworth ring a bell, even a bad one?

I can only think back to the first day of training camp open to the public. When Gibbs, last to come onto the field walked out, there was this outcry of applause and adoration. I could only think "that is way too much pressure for any one man's shoulders". Trying to live up to that expectation is more than anyone should have to attempt to endure.

He will fix this, and we all will be looking back and thinking how unrealistic many of our expectations were.
