We are in the hunt.

I really do think our defense can handle these guys.

REMAINING SCHEDULE:
Dec. 12: vs. Eagles
Dec. 18: at 49ers
Dec. 26: at Cowboys
Jan. 2: vs. Vikings

Consult with me next Monday...

Our team would be a -really- dangerous team if they make it. But the old cliché still works: one game at a time. I like our chances against P. but it is going to be a brawl in our house.

I expect all fans to become player #12

I'm more afraid that most of the "fans" at fedex have put their tickets on ebay. I hope not. I hate eagle games when all I see are eagle fans.

Aside from all the help needed to actually get into the playoffs, just winning those four games is a pretty tall order. Eagles and Vikes are obviously tough and the Cowboys are showing real signs of life with Julius Jones.

On the bright side, at least we get to play the Vikes at home. And I think we'll do better against Philly than we did last month.

i think it's sad that an 8-8 team has a chance of making the playoffs in the nfc.

An 8-8 team doesn't belong in the playoffs, if we make it, whatever... we're still "pretenders". Making the playoffs would really burn me, why would we want our team in the playoffs when we have no chance PLUS have us lose a good draft pick we could use to select a center, TE, DL, or maybe, MAYBE even a QB with?

This team is playing under potential, with a solid draft in 2005 we'd be unstoppable... another good impact player would be a godsend.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we were already eliminated from playoff contention? I know that 8-8 teams have a chance to make playoffs but I thought something happened with our division record or something that we're already disqualified?

Quite the contrary. If the Redskins manage to run the table, we have an excellent chance of making the playoffs, as we hold the tiebreaker over almost all of the teams contending for wild card spots.

Just beat Philadelphia...

Whether we finish in the top 5 or bottom 10 makes little to no difference with the draft. There have only been 2 Heisman trophy winners win a super bowl!!!! EVER!

Good players from the draft come in virtually all rounds and really you just need to have a decent number of picks AND hope your scouts give you some good info! Cooley is a great example!

We need to really finish this season strong and with some good players going into next season. The playoffs (for us/this year) are a bit of a stretch.

This team is building and becoming a force for many years.

Look at the pukes - 10-6 to what? luck and good calls to maybe make it and then what? I know they have some picks and some cap space!!!! They will need both if they keep that owner and coach.

Then why are we never listed during televised football games with teams that are in the playoff hunt? I think we may be mathamatically eliminated.

If we run the table we have a great shot of getting in!! Our conference record we be 8-4 better then most! Who cares if we get beat, a playoff game will do wonders for this team!!

Not yet we're hanging on by a thread

Our best shot at making the Playoffs is to win out, one loss and we're done

Just to clear it up......

That Team in Texas We WILL finish ahead of them if we win the rest of our games. If we win out, that means we will have beaten them. We'd have the same division record (assuming they win the rest of their games), but we'd have a better NFC record, thus claiming the tie-breaker.

I wouldn't worry too much about Detroit, Chicago, or Tampa. All we need is for each of those teams to lose just one more game-- we hold the tie-breaker with all of them.

Seattle's loss last night really helps our cause. Both St. Louis and Seattle sit at 6-6. If either of them finish 1-3, we'd finish ahead of them. If Seattle finishes 8-8, we'd win the tie-breaker. If St. Louis finishes 8-8, we could still win the tie-breaker, if one of their wins is against the Jets (we'd have a better NFC record in that case).

The Vikings are now an interesting team to watch. We control our own desitiny against them if they enter that game with 8 wins or less. That means they need to go 1-2 over their next 3. Those three games are at home against Seattle and Green Bay and at Detroit. Not impossible for them to drop two of those. And of course, if they beat Seattle, then that kind of helps our cause against the Seahawaks.

Bottom line is that we need to be watching the Vikings, Rams, and Seahawaks. TWO of those teams can make the playoffs-- we need 1 to falter.

Because wehave no remaining games against the AFC, and because we have beaten Chicago, Tampa, Detroit, (and presumably Minnesota and Dallas), we will be in better shape in terms of tie-breakers than just about any other team.

But if we don't win out these last 4 we're looking at another top ten pick in 2005. You could almost call that a Win-Win position.

Either way I say "We're back" :?: and it's just a matter of time

Mostly because us making the playoffs requires us to run the table, which includes games against Philadelphi, Minnesota and Dallas on the road.

Make no mistake, it's a long shot. But we aren't mathematically eliminated...

PLAYOFFS?

you must be a younger skins fan... that way of thinking is crazy... have you ever seen the redskins in the playoffs?

that is the most exciting thing ever... when your team has a shot at the superbowl...

never... never.... never accept losses for draft picks...

blasphemy....

I sure hope the skins aren't even thinking of the playoffs. I hope they're thinking about beating Philly...a much higher probability than the playoffs, which, will be a definite out of ? if we lose. It's win-out from here. Personally, it's doable. Probablility wise, I'd say...ohh, 5-10% chance. Get by Philly? 20%...there's a little AT Dallas game coming up..win that and the niner game...hmm...interesting. probable? not really, I don't think we have a chance and I am being realistic.

It is a tribute about how even the entire league is. Any team can beat any other team week in and week out.

Parity's great in that aspect, but it also ain't so hot when officiating is deciding a couple of games every week because things are so close.

The teams that seem to get the "breaks" every week (Philly, NE and Pittsburgh) are also the teams with the fewest losses.

Get a marquee player that the league hopes succeeds to increase revenue (Vick, Peyton Manning) and suddenly the "breaks" increase also.

I would argue that ref calls going their way is -not- the reason why these teams are where they are.

Sure, they get breaks. But I would say that the best teams prevail in the end, even if not -all- of the best teams make it due to criminal calls on the field. The ref system is not that bankrupt (yet).
