Giants notes: Two more ends bite the dust, so here comes Upshaw

The Giants just can't keep their defensive ends healthy.

First, it was starters Michael Strahan and Keith Washington who were lost for the year. Now, the seasons of their replacements -- Chuck Wiley and Lorenzo Bromell -- are over as well.

Wiley, the former Viking who was signed on Nov. 10, tore ligaments in his left knee in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the Eagles and will be placed on injured reserve. The Giants will sign nine-year veteran Regan Upshaw to replace him.

Wiley played well in the last two games and recorded a half-sack of speedy Falcons quarterback Michael Vick in his second game.

The 6-4, 260-pound Upshaw played all 16 games for the Redskins last year -- the fourth team of his career -- but recorded only one sack. He has 34 1/2 in his career.

Upshaw worked out for the Giants earlier this month, but they signed Wiley instead because he is bigger.

Upshaw has nothing left. Williams didn't want him. If he contributes anything it will most likely be a personal foul. Run the ball right at him.

Actually, he had an offsides on like 3rd down.
