Call me crazy....

I might be looking at things too optimistically, but the way I see it, a 9-7 team can make the playoffs. There are 4 games left that are very winable, then there is Pitt and Philly. If we beat Pitt, then take Philly at home, we have a chance. Any comments?

yea, simple math...we're 3-7 with 6 to go...we run the table and we're 9-7....ain't happening.
we are pretty much guaranteed 6-10 at best.
i said that 2 weeks ago after laying an egg against the freeking Bengals at home...I knew it was over after that.

At this point, I've lost all optimism for games this season. Yesterday was a crushing defeat, not because of the margin of loss to a better team, but because the pittiful manner in which we handed the game to them.

However, I still have optimism for next year and beyond, knowing we have a few more years of this coaching staff, and guessing we will have less player turnover next year.

VASkins, glad to hear that someone out there still has hope. Welcome to the board.

How can you even mention playoffs. This team is not on the brink of being better, this team is on the brink of a total mutiny. Week after week we gave Coach Gibbs the benefit of the doubt. We suggested he was protecting Brunell's diminishing skills with the conservative play calling. Now we're left to wonder, what is he afraid of? Can he adjust? Will he hire an offensive coordinator? Will he let Ramsey throw the ball enough to even know if he is the future? Playoffs? We'll be lucky to win 2 more games. Maybe San Francisco, maybe Dallas. Maybe. Playoffs. There are only so many summers and so many springs. We've just wasted the best defense we've seen in decades. Gibbs will be lucky to avoid a mutiny. I have always considered his leadership skills unsurpassed, but, he is about to totally lose the confidence of his team, fans, and OWNER. He may have to cite health reasons and walk away. Heartbreaking. The playoffs are unthinkable for this team. Get Real.

probably you, Greg, my best assumption...not that you really said anything incorrect...other than maybe a bit harsh on Gibbs...no biggy...I'm pissed off too, here...I mean, WTF is going on? 3-7 with the top 2 D in the league? What really pisses me off is the God damned Ravens can have a solid D and no O and they find a way to win? We find a way to lose? I don't get it...makes no sense? I knew the D would break sooner or later...it's just worn out from busting ass and it get's 3 and outs in return or a gob of inside the 10 Red Zone penalty killers...sad team right now..real sad...I've never seen a worse offense? We should have Norv running our offense, at least we'd be over .500 with our D? How can the fruking Ravens be 6-3 or whatever they are with a complete tard for a QB?

the difference is that the ravens offense hasn't yet reached the depths on ineptness that the skins offense has. furthermore, the ravens don't seem to give up as many points with their offense and special teams as we do. when your offense gives up points, that's a killer, and it happens too much to us.

As frustrating as this season has been, there is much optimism for the FUTURE. I'd love to see them run the table, while running every opponent out of town, but I'm realistic at this point.

It's gonna take some time (hopefully not too long) to become a cohesive unit and achieve a 10-6+ record..

While I admire the optimism, you are in fact crazy. If we make the playoffs I'll shave my body and run naked in the streets. Then everyone can call me crazy. Until then, I think a more sane goal is to have a better record than we did last year with the most inept "ol ball coach" ever to be on a Redskin sideline. It's a stretch, but possible.

Wild Card (8-8 might get you in)

If the season ended today, the last wild NFC wild card would go the the St. Louis Rams who are 5-5. They would beat out the 5-5 Giants based on a better NFC record. There are only 5 teams in the NFC with winning records. Good news for you guys and for me, a Giants fan, 8-8 could do it this year.

You're both crazy  You're Both Redskins fans. How long did you think we would keep our sanity, we go through the samething every off-season (all the hype) only to be let down right about this time every year.
Guess what we'll do it all over again next year.

Because there is nothing wrong with being Crazy about the Skins

Sooner or Later we'll get it right

Welcome to the board.

No, you are not crazy. You are simply trying to encourage us. Nice try on a wrong day.

Injuries play a huge role in our dismal future this season. No, I am not looking for playoffs anymore, and for a while actually. I am looking for a couple of good games that give us the opportunity to have a cohesive team. I am looking for an opportunity to test our will to win.

Unfortunately, yesterday was our chance. We had them where we wanted them. Close match and zero receptions to TO.

Joe will get the team as best prepared he can with the players he has. But it is too much to ask.

Thanks for the encouragement. We need posters like you here.

Skins will finish 5-11:

@ Pitt - W (just a hunch; Pitt has to have a bad game at some point)
v. Giants - L (continuing the poor play at home - Tiki runs for 180 yards)
v. Iggles - L (stop dreaming if you think this can be a W)
@ 49ers - L (may be the Skins' best chance to get 20 points; this will be the other W if they lose to Pitt)
@ Cowgirls - W (Drew Henson sucks)
v. Vikings - L (to end the season 1-7 at home)

Probably end up picking 5th again. Even though the draft isn't very deep, should trade down if one of the top 3 QBs are still available and someone else really wants one. Then draft OL and a DE.

What's wrong with crazy? VA, I'm with you man! What the heck - it's only a game. We win one game at a time... and what do you know??? As for the record - who knows? 8-8 could even get in. It's one game, one play, one practice at a time. These guys are pros and I think they'll show a ton of heart coming down the stretch. We're ready for things to turn around - we just need to stop making stupid mistakes and play hard. Good things are coming our way... waiting is tough.

Is that:

1) a bet?

2) a promise?

3) a threat?

4) a joke?

5) a pathological result of consistently deviant behaviour?
