Hey fellas . . . Steeler fan here. I've been visiting Steeler opponents boards for a few weeks now, just to take the pulse of the fans. What are your thoughts on this week's game? I think the 'Skins might enjoy a week out of town, play loose and upset the Steelers. Big Ben & Co. have to play better than they did yesterday to win.

By the way, nice board.

well, after drinking some cool aid at lunch I'll say we'll stuff your team with our solid defense, gibbs will open up the offense a bit, now we'll go with some 15 yard passes to build off of our solid 2 to 5 yard passes and we'll hit the elusive 20 point mark, but however we'll lose 27 to 21 on some soft of controversial play that we'll get to bitch and moan about all week thinking, what if....

Yeah, I certainly think there will be some suspect officiating call or freak occurance for us to bitch about all next week. Other than that, i'm just looking for improvement. Hoping we take a step forward, not back.

We'll dominate you with our WR screen passes, getting large chunks of yardage (at least 4 to 5 yards each time). Numerous passes will ricochet off of our receivers hands (including our RB's coming out of the backfield)...but instead of landing in the opponents hands, they'll land in other Redskins hands. We'll challenge a call that looks challengeable (or not)...and we'll win this one. We'll call 2 timeouts about 10 minutes into the game, but luckily, it won't matter. We'll drive consistently to the redzone, or, at least your side of the field...then get numerous penalties to drive us back to our redzone. Somehow though, we manage to get back to the line of scrimmage. Our Swedish kicker will miss any field goal in excess of 40 yards...but Steeler penalties will move us closer...and then he'll make it. Sean Taylor will do something stupid either before, during or after the game...but it will go unnoticed this time. Rod Gardner will drop only 2 or 3 passes this game.

In other words...we'll execute flawlessly.

From one Diesel fan to another, that was a hilarious post. I have to say you summed up our season quite accurately, and I share the frustration. Seriously, once again we have to hope that the Steelers have an off day, and that we play better than we've played all year. It's like a broken record at this point, but we simply can't go toe to toe with any team of the Steelers' talent that is playing at the top of its game. We have to actually show measurable improvement, not some glimmer that maybe we're getting slightly better. The Bengals played them tough, and hopefully that game took a little something out of them, so we can pull off an upset.

In all, some Redskin fans are feeling dismal.

My estimate is that the Redskins are:

- thin at most spots

- especially thin at OL, where the team starts reserves at C and RT, and lost another starter on Sunday. Haven't heard more about the injury.

- playing a young QB who is learning major league game presence, command, control of his passes. I think he might be really good. Certainly has arm-strength, is thought to have a quick release, and has proved that he is tough.

- wide receivers are a questionable bunch. Might be talented, might have been sabotaged by Brunnell, or, last year, by Spurrier's run&shoot offense. Unproven, never had to win under real pressure.

- defense is thin, but feisty. They are thin enough that they gamble sometimes, but generally hold the team together.

- overall, the team is slowly learning how to play Joe Gibbs football. This is a shake-out process, and several well-known players shook out, while some unknowns shook in. Gibbs looks for character guys, who are often the unknowns, and builds his team around them. You might have heard of Russ Grimm <g>, an all-time favorite, and the Joe Gibbs model player.

From your side, what do you see in P'burgh? Is Big Ben really that good this quick?

It aint gonna be pretty. We had a chance yesterday with the score 6-7 to change the rest of the season. We blew it on dumb penalties and incomplete passes.

Our OL is not going to hold next week. I hate every second of it. I hope Patrick does not get hurt. I am only looking at getting better now. It is going to be a struggle to keep the team together for the rest of the season. It was ugly yesterday in the locker room.

Steeler fans have endured seasons like the one you are experiencing this year. Bill Cowher always says there is a fine line between winning and losing in the NFL. I don't think the entire Redskin team needs to blown up to start over next year like I've read in some posts on this board. That is just frustration expressed by a casual fan. Give Joe Gibbs time.

As far as this week's game goes, I think the match-ups favor the Steelers for the most part. The 'Skins defense is good, and I'm hoping the Steeler O-Line plays better than they did against Cincy. Big Ben needs to make better decisions too. I can't see the 'Skins offense putting up many points. "P-Ram" could be in for a long day.

The Steeler faithful will be in fine form after a two-week break. Heinz Field isn't as noisy as Three Rivers was, but the crowd can be a factor.

I see this game as low scoring in the first half, then tilting in the Steelers favor in the second half. The last drive will finish with Ben taking a knee for the 5th game in a row.
