Anybody watching the Detroit vs Indy Game on ESPN?

The game was called due to a fight
Ron Artest fouled Ben Wallace hard ... and Wallace pushed Artest. They mouth off a little and Artest walked away and went to the scorers table. At this point the fans started throwing thinks at the players.
Artest went into the stands after the fans. Other players went after Artest, pretty soon there was a brawl in the stands.
The game was called with time remaining and the Pacers were declared the winners 97-82 no link yet, but it was the wildest thing I've seen in the NBA in a long time

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Indiana's Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson charged into the stands and fought with fans in the final minute of their game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday night, forcing an early and ugly end to the Pacers' 97-82 win.

The game was stopped with 45.9 seconds remaining when a pushing and shoving between the teams spilled into the stands after fans began throwing things at the players near the scorer's table.

``It's the ugliest thing I've seen as a coach or player,'' Pistons coach Larry Brown said.

After several minutes of players fighting with fans in the stands, the Pacers were pelted with beer, ice, and popcorn as they made their way to the locker room in one of the scariest brawls in an NBA game.

The Palace announcer said the game was being stopped and pleaded with fans not to throw things.

It all started when Detroit's Ben Wallace went in for a layup and was fouled hard by Artest.

Wallace wheeled around and pushed Artest in the face. The benches emptied and punches were thrown.

As the players continued shoving each other near center court and coaches tried to restore order, Artest lay on his back on the scorer's table.

Just when it appeared tempers had died down, Artest was struck by a cup thrown from the stands. He jumped up, and charged into the stands, throwing punches as he climbed over seats.

Fans were punching back, and Jackson and another teammate joined Artest in the melee. A Pistons player came running into the crowd.

Detroit's Rasheed Wallace and Indiana's David Harrison were also in or near the stands.

As the crowd roared, drinks and debris showered the court and the Pacers players covered their heads as they hustled through the runway leading to the locker room.

When I got home from work last night, I turned on the TV and SportsCenter was doing a virtual play-by-play of the incident. I was shocked! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was horrible.

It's embarrasing how idiotic people act. I felt bad for that kid that they showed crying on TV.

It's a tough situation for the NBA to handle and I hope a good resolution comes out of this.

If I were Artest I would have done the samething, this little beef had nothing to do with the fans.

Man, that was the BEST fight I've seen on TV in months. I payed for that hideous performance my boy Roy Jones Jr. when he got knocked out. Ahh...things come full circle, thus are the way of the galaxy and I get my monies worth.

In all seriousness I don't like the fact that this fight happened. I dont like the fact that these players let the worse people win. For anyone who knows how it is to play sports, sometimes your adreneline causes you to act out of character. With the constant harrassing, racial slurs, curses, etc. that players must endure throughout the course of a game I can understand how someone could lash out. Does that make it right? No. I think we can all say that we'd all have a bit of trouble showing complete restraint IF confronted with the same circumstances out on the street. If I was called a nigger by someone I know dag on well that I'd have something to say about it.

Should the players have shown restraint? Of course!
Was this bound to happen? Of course!

I hope that the players association comes to the defense of their players and that the league handles this well. The fans in question should be banned because this would have never happened if it wasn't some DRUNK throwing beer.

I looked at the video on ESPN. Here's a link for my brothers. http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/motion/showcase/index?videos=1927343

2 people deserved what they had coming to them.

The fan he threw that beer. Did you see the defiant smile on his face until Ron hopped up into the stands and yanked his *** up? Ron didn't even get a hit on him, which he didn't need to, he scared him well enough.

The 2 fans who boldly approached Ron on the floor. 1st of all they should have NEVER left their seats, and if they did they should have been leaving. They came onto the floor on their own accord and got their ***'s whupped. Good for them. Ron punched one, O'Neal followed up on the 2nd guy.

Crazy situation...

Me too. I would have paid money to see that punch to the face that happened on the court.

NEW YORK --Indiana's Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson, and Detroit's Ben Wallace were suspended indefinitely by the NBA on Saturday for taking part in one of the ugliest brawls in U.S. sports history, a fight with fans that commissioner David Stern called "shocking, repulsive and inexcusable."

League officials and police were examining videotapes of Friday night's melee and interviewing witnesses. The NBA issued a statement saying it was reviewing rules and security procedures "so that fans can continue to attend our games unthreatened by events such as the ones that occurred last night."

IMO Artest and Jackson for that matter are idiots and deserved the suspensions. Artest has a screw loose and just cost himself 5.5 million plus future ramifications....oh but he'll make it up with his label right!?!

Jackson - what the hell was this guy thinking?!? (I know about the "I'm protecting my teammate excuse"), but I ain't buying it. This guy just wanted to fight, and it's going to cost him too. Stupid.

Now Artest's lawyer is blaming the war in Iraq and our "polarized" society for his client's behavior. Can you believe that? That's what this world is coming to...it's always someone or something else's fault. It's a shame!

Now we know why Artest is so screwy....look who he gets his advise from.

Also I don't agree with the suspensions... Artest should have gotten about 45 games and Jackson should have gotten ATLEAST the season
