Post-Game Q&A: Patrick Ramsey

Redskins quarterback Patrick Ramsey spoke with Redskins.com following Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals:
Q: What are your thoughts on the game?
A: "Obviously we would have liked to pull through and win the game, that way we'd all be happy right now. I think if we could have left out a few mistakes we would have had a shot to win the game."

Q: Was it tougher than usual coming in the game down 17-0?
A: "That's my job. My job is to go in there and try to play well regardless of the circumstances. Certainly there were things I could have done better."

Q: Were you rusty at first because of the speed of the game?
A: "I started rusty. That was apparent. I tried my best. My job is to throw the football as efficiently as I can. I don't feel like I did that in the first half. I haven't seen game speed since we played in New York. I felt better in the second half. You go in there and just try to run the offense regardless of what the coach calls. I've run Cincinnati's reps, so as far as game speed is concerned, I try to take as much out of that as possible and go from there."

Q: How difficult was it to prepare for Marvin Lewis's defensive scheme?
A: "He did a good job. That's his reputation. He is a great coach. I think we could have done things a little better, but I'm not going to take anything away from the Bengals."

Q: Did you feel yourself getting into a groove late in the second half?
A: "I felt better in the second half. I think early I felt a little rusty, and I got loose in the second half and felt a little better out there. I was able to see the field a little better, but it's been awhile."

Q: How would you rate your performance?
A: "I think my performance was average. I think there are some plays that I missed, and things that I would have liked to have done. I'm searching for the perfect game and I think if we could do that we would win. If I would have played perfectly I think we could have won, but I didn't."

Q: Do you think you'll start next week?
A: "I would like to, but that's Coach Gibbs's decision. As far as desire, I want to play. But I'm not going to say I should play. It's Coach Gibbs's decision. He is the leader of this team."

Q: Are you looking forward to the challenge presented with the tough schedule ahead?
A: "It is a tough schedule. If Mark starts, it's the same as if I start. We are going to have to rally this team, play hard and win some games that we aren't expected to win."
