Porter and Green Ejected For Pre Game Fight
Steelers linebacker Joey Porter and Browns running back William Green were both ejected from Sunday’s Browns-Steelers game – before kickoff. The two got into a fight at about the 45-yard-line during pregame warm-ups and league officials ejected both players. Referee Jeff Triplette announced after the coin toss that both players had been penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct and ejected. Television replays showed an agitated Green approaching Porter, and Porter shoved Green. Green went back at Porter, and Porter threw a punch at Green. Green retaliated with some swings of his own. After the fight, Green was left with a bloody lip. Lee Suggs replaced Green in the starting lineup. James Harrison, a rookie from Akron and Kent State, replaced Porter.

If I were Bill Cowher and lost Joey porter at kickoff, I would suspend him for at least next weeks game w/out pay. That's plain dumb.

Fines Levied For Pre Game Fight
Linebacker Joey Porter of Pittsburgh and running back William Green of Cleveland were fined $10,000 each by the NFL on Tuesday for their fight before Sunday's game in Cleveland. The Browns' Terrelle Smith was fined the same amount for also getting involved in the altercation. Porter, and Green were both ejected after the fight, which occurred less than an hour before the game, won 24-10 by the Steelers. Smith, Cleveland's fullback, was not thrown out. The fight occurred when Porter and Green turned toward each other and began wildly throwing punches. Smith, who said he was trying to protect Green, also threw a punch during the fight. One of Porter's punches connected, bloodying Green's lower lip. Both Green and Porter accused each other of spitting during the altercation, as well.
