Free Official Jersey

....sorry, but I thought that headline would get your attention pretty easily.

Here's a question for you all.

Let's pretend I send you $300 to buy an official Redskins jersey. My only requirement is that you get a "current" player and not an "old school" player (a la Riggins, Monk, etc.)

Two questions:

1. Who would you get?

and

2. Why?

A couple of points, please just don't leave a name. Please give specific reasons why you picked the player you picked.

Second, here's who I would get.

Most have you have already known that I'm a Matt Bowen fan. I think the guy has a lot of potential and plays with 110% each week. He's also a great hitter. My first instinct would be to get a Bowen jersey......but

I'd have to think about who I think will be a Redskin player longer...because I certainly don't want to own a jersey of a player that left for another team (a la Trotter, S. Davis, etc.)

When I come right down to my decision, I think I'd have to go with Clinton Portis. This kid is a pure stud and I think he has a solid chance of being the absolutely best running back ever to wear a Redskins uniform. I also think that if he plays as well as I think he'll play for us, the Redskins organization will pay him whatever he wants to be a Redskin for the rest of his career.

So.....my decision would have to be CLINTON PORTIS.

:feedback;

Freddy Smoot, he'll be a Redskin for life. He has that spunk about him, and he can back up all the smack he talks. He plays through pain and is a true THUG. He wants to be a Skin for life, and I'm sure the coaching staff and Danny boy want him to be a Skin for life too

I go with Smoot also, I think he is going to be a Redskin for a long time - or at least I hope so and the word seems to be they want to get him signed early.

He just has the old school mentality - tough, loud and plays with pain. Not to mention a leader by example.

Geez - beaten by 2 minutes Redskins4life!!!

I agree that longevity counts in it pretty heavily, JH. I'd love to have either a Rock jersy or maybe a DMac one, but it would be obselete in a year or so just like my Champ jersy is right now.

So I'm going to have to go with Smoot, because he has prooved himself so well by playing through tons of pain. In addition, he really has showed his character after coming into the league with such an arrogant splash, and I love the transformation he went through. Thirdly, the guy can play, plain and simple.

Smmmoooooooottt.

Edit:

 we are reading each other's minds. . .

I have recently bought a Coles jersey. I have always been a Coles fan since last year. He is amazingly fast and should be grouped a little behind the elite of the elite (Like Randy Moss, M. Harrison, T.O., Hines Ward) instead with players like Chad Johnson, Eric Moulds, Rod Smith, and maybe Reggie Wayne. I loves Coles and without him, our recieving core would look like a trash heap. Rod wouldn't catch more than 40 passes, having the #1 corner on him at all times.

Also, I believe that Mr. Coles will be with Washington for at least 4 or 5 more years. The Front office knows how special this guy is, and he can change the whole perspective of our offense.

Please buy me a Clinton jersey as well!!! [-o<

 If I could afford to, then for Christmas I would. In fact, if money wasn't an issue I'd probably supply our whole house with them!

Ok I do not want to be like the crowd, so no Fred Smoot for me. I like him enough to wear his jersey but the way he is playing there will be millions and millions of them soon.

That being said I have contemplated John Hall, though his injury has be reconsidering. Chris Cooley was also a possiblity. It's such a tough choice. Another one I considered was Marcus Washington. But I've changed my mind recently and now it is.....................................

All of the above are great picks and you can't go wrong with any of them. I'm torn between Arrington - cause he's a beast and will be a Redskin for life. And my other choice is one also not mentioned thus far ... James Thrash. I liked him when here was here the 1st time and was sorry to see him leave and was really happy to see him come back. He is a true Redskin. He reminds me of Art Monk & Darrel Green in work ethic. A fine, fine individual. I think he'll retire a Redskin.

If I had to choose right now, I'd pick Thrash. There are lots of Arrington jersey out there. Thrash needs a rew of his own out there to show him our appreciation and support. Plus he had a heck of a game last week, didn't he!

How about...

PATRICK RAMSEY ???

He will be FANTASTIC.

And I do not want to argue about it and you know why.

# 22 PAT DENNIS

Why???

No one else would pick him so I'm sure there will be a 2X just for me.

And we should give props to the University of Louisians - Monroe for all the great NFL stars that have come from there like ............ Oh what the heck. :P :P :P

I got to go with Griffin. He's been a beast this year, and simply there is not enough Griffin jersey's out there. A smooth pick-up we made this year.

This is tough for me to say, but I'd want a Portis jersey. I already have a Ramsey, Taylor, and Bailey (of course.) I just bought them all this year.

After watching Portis play, I really do think we got the better end of the trade. That kid plays hard. I've watched him pick up blocks that I would never have dreamed that he could handle. His heart and passion for rushing is undeniable. That man wants the rock! I think all that we have invested in him will also probably keep him here for a VERY long time. He is our cornerstone on offense. At least the one that's allowed to play  I think the Redskins will go as far as he can take them.

I'd have to go with Griffin, he's played so well and it's been awhile since we had a dominate d-lineman. Smoot would be a close second.

Randy Thomas

http://www.the-hogs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9319

Right guard Randy Thomas was in a hurry, departing Redskins Park yesterday to join fellow offensive linemen for dinner at Sweetwater Tavern, a restaurant a few miles away in Sterling. With Thomas's favorite pastime approaching, the six-year veteran already envisioned what he would order: For appetizers, two servings of crab fritters (six pieces each) plus Texan wraps (filled with chicken). Thomas's main course would be barbecued prime rib (20 ounces) and another slab of ribs (14 ribs).

"Don't forget about my dessert," Thomas said.

Dessert?

"Chocolate waffles," Thomas said, smiling hungrily.

Need I say more

i have to admit I am a little disappointed. I love Smoot but the unquestioned leader of the team is Jon Jansen...no frills just a bulldozer. He represents everything Joe Gibbs does with an offense. Its about time the oline got some face time around here....Lincoln Kennedy
