Finally... The Redskins COME BACK to Ericsson Stadium...

Stephen Davis has had this date circled on his calendar since the schedule came out.

I expect all the talk about the Panthers being a fluke, how we can't win without Davis, and how we're a marginal team to continue again this week. Go ahead, pile it on... we've heard it all year long.

Should be a great game for the atmosphere alone. I expect at least 1/3rd of the stadium to be Redskins fans this coming Sunday.

You won't hear that from me! The Panthers, once circled on my calendar as a "win", pose quite a threat! Their defense scares the crap out of me and, even without the services of Stephen Davis (which, IMO, they won't have to worry about this week), they are quite a formidable team.

I'm hoping the Redskins can put two good back-to-back games together to give the Panthers a challenge. Unlike Seattle, I expect the Panthers to blitz hard and often. Hopefully, the Skins O-line will be up for that and Ramsey's new 3-step drops will expose the Panthers secondary.

Also, although I would normally expect the Panthers to "come down" a little after the Bucs game...I am sure Stephen Davis won't let that happen.

Hopefully, it'll be a good game....with the Redskins prevailing (of course)!

The Panthers Defense is vastly over-rated by the media. They have an extremely inept secondary that is easily exploited, and I expect Spurrier to take advantage of that early and often. One thing I think that will happen is that the Skins will have a hard time with the blitzes coming from the linebackers, Witherspoon in particular, and will be forced into mistakes.

Quite the opposite happens for us though, Delhomme generally plays better under pressure or being blitzed... it's when he's got time to think that scares us :D

Davis is licking his chops as we speak...

Well, one thing is sure... if we can begin to get in a rhythym like we did against the Seahawks with the three step drops and the runs it keeps Davis off the field.

There were a few drives that the Skins ate some major time up against the Hawks in little chunks.

Weak secondary --> awesome d-line.

Your pass rush will give us fits.

Welcome back by the way :-)

PantherFreaks.com is our F2FA affiliate this week so be sure to check out their site for all your Panthers info. It's a really sharp looking website.

I'll pop over some time this week to harass you.

Nice of SD to take Sunday off to make sure he was good and ready for the Redskins. Lavar will be looking to swat that ball out of his hands.

I'm guilty of this too. I still think the QBs are a joke but that D line is really scary. This team is definitely not the team I'd think they would be this year.

Either way....it will be an interesting contest. Davis has already said he wants 3 TD's and 150+ yds. We'll see.

And people think it was all Snyder and Spurrier behind SD leaving... he wanted out - he could have cut his salary 5-6 mil a year and still made far more than at Carolina - but he didn't want to.

Our QB has a better QB rating than yours does :D

Jake Delhomme - Rating: 78.8
Patrick Ramsey - Rating: 77.7

Our QB is better than you think - read this article and see what John Fox has to say:

We don't throw that much out of choice... Davis has been kicking butt... why pass?

What the matter with Stephen? Will he be healthy? Although he was always a hardnose rusher for us, he had a tendency to get injured and take time off.

I'm sure he'll be back for this one, but how effective will he be? Sorry I don't know the extent of his injury...anyone?

Oh im not saying pass....I'm with you there; but I said Peete was a joke...I was right...I guess the jury is still out on Jake.

Other notable stats you left out:

Ramsey Delhomme

Years experience 2 5
Yards 2009 1671
TD/int 12/8 10/8

It is also no surprise that having the better team makes it easier on a journeyman QB to hang with Ramsey....not even considering the beating he has taken.

Carolina = better team than Washington at this point in the season.

Wide open = my mouth if we win sunday.

SD has an ankle injury... don't think it was a high ankle sprain, but not sure.

My mouth won't be wide open, but I would be happy if things go well like I am hoping. I would be mildly surprised if they can do it again, but you know, sometimes it takes just a little bit of a turnaround for the team to get the pride back.... and as we know from the 0-5 start with Shoddy Heimer... that may be all we need. Sometimes momentum can come from the fact that you just didn't shoot yourself in the foot like you had been lately.

uh oh....not one of those Stephen ankle sprains...we'll see how effective he is.

my bet is he'll start, but after a few ineffective runs and a "Westbrook" bitch-slap or two from Lavar and Company, he'll be back on the bench

OMG - you didn't just say that.... ROFL

I loved that one hit in preseason that Lavar had on him as he was running that long play - notice he didn't come back in after that :)

Then again - after seeing Lavar up close in camp with his shirt off after practice running wind sprints on his own... I would hide behind the bench knowing he was looking for me.

we need to do 2 things....
1. score early and often...panthers aren't as good playin catch-up.
2. STOP SD....like i said before, take thier (A) game away, and we have the advantage.

SD used to talk big before all of the big games, and he never produced. How many times did we beat the Cowboys with Davis starting? None. He fumbled in almost all of them. Every year he starts strong, then starts fumbling and getting injured. It looks like the trend is continuing. It's that damn ankle again. Next week, the knee goes.

Damn, you are right. He is a loser come crunch time. The saga continues.
