Bengals-Skins Matchup

Let's break this down...

QB:Patrick Ramsey- YDS:1188 CMP%:51.1 TD:7 INT:5 RAT:67.4
Carson Palmer- YDS:1680 CMP%:56.3 TD:6 INT:10 RAT:66.3

We're close at QB. Both haven't played well. In Carson's defense this is his first season as starter and he's getting better as we go along.

HB:Rudi Johnson- ATT:175 YDS:683 AVG:3.9 TD:4
Clinton Portis- ATT:204 YDS:810 AVG:4.0 TD:2

Clinton has the edge here. Rudi got off to a slow start because the line was banged up. He's been turning it up lately though.

WR:Laveranues Coles- REC:42 YDS:498 AVG:11.9 TD:1
Rod Gardner-REC:26 YDS:383 AVG:14.7 TD:5
Clinton Portis- REC:24 YDS:151 AVG:6.3 TD:1

Chad Johnson- REC:44 YDS:624 AVG:14.2 TD:2
T.J. Houshmandzadeh- REC:23 YDS:322 AVG:14.0 TD:0
Kelley Washington- REC:13 YDS:162 AVG:12.5 TD:0

These are the top 3 receivers for each team. We have the edge here. You're lucky Warrick's out. We also have a clear edge at tight end.

O-Line: I think we've both had our stuggles w/ the O-Line. We've given up 19 sack and you guys have given up 17 total. I think both of our run blocking is decent.

K: John Hall- TOT:7/9 PCT:77.8 LNG:34 PTS:27
Shayne Graham- TOT:18/20 PCT:90.0 LNG:53 PTS:68

Need I say more?

Defense: To make this short you guys are #1 and we are #27. However we have played many great defenses this season and did pretty well against most of them.

Score: Bengals:27 Deadskins:16

If you take losing as doing ok then I guess you guys did ok. How can you think you will score 27 points against our defense. Your run defense is so weak and that is the only thing we do well. To score 27 points you will need to suit up Anthony Munoz and Kenny Anderson...hell might even need cris collinsworth to dust off ole number 80.

Well our defense will put us in good field position a couple of times off of turnovers by Brunell. Your defense might be the CURRENTLY at #1 but I gurantee you that we've played better defenses. As far as our defense goes. They are starting to play better. If you run all game you will lose.

BTW you guys are 3-5 to there buddy. Oh and didn't you lose to Dallas? Well we beat them 26-3.

How do you figure you have the edge at receiving core. When we have the edge in receptions 92-80. And touchdowns.

We also have 2 Wr's that have had over 1000 yards in a season. You only have one.

If you wanted to say that your #1 is better than our #1, that's one thing. But there is no way your core is better than ours.

Please enlighten me as to how you will score 27 points on the # 1 D in the league, I'm dying to know.

You've played better Defenses, who? I'll tell you who nobody. Go to espn.com and look it up. Total defense we're #1.

It's funny that you should say that Brunell is going to turn it over when Carson Palmer has 10 int's as apposed to Brunell's 5. Do the math that's twice as many.

We scored 23 points on Denver when they were holding the #1 spot. I think we can go for an extra 4 against the Skins. Well you may have 2 receivers that have had 1,oo yards in the PAST. Notice I put past in bold. Thrash isn't doing a damn thing now. We have 5 recevers with at least 100 yards, you have 3. You have 2 good recevers (Coles, Gardner). We got CJ, TJ Houshmandzadeh, and Kelley Washington. If Warrick wasn't injusred our core would blow yours away.

VA Bengal,
You have a typo in your first post there, you list Patrick Ramsey and then give Brunell's stats. I think that is just a typo and that you know Brunell is the QB, but I just wanted to make sure anyone reading that knows as well.

As for your prediction, the only team we've allowed more than 21 points to was Green Bay, and 7 of those came at the very close of the game when Brunell threw an INT on the play after a suspect penalty took away our go-ahead TD.

We are averaging 84 Rushing YPG, and while we haven't played many high-powered teams, we have played run-first teams like Baltimore.

You may doubt our Defense now, perhaps because you haven't heard much about them in the media, but you will be a believer come Sunday!

OOPS! I met to put BrunellI don't doubt your defense. I'm just saying that we've faced a few other teams with great defenses (Dolpins, Ravens, Steelers, Broncos).

Your receiving core is better even though one of them is Houzhs whatever is never even mentioned when speaking of the strengths of your team. And the other Washington, hasn't been great since college.

Give me a break. Chad Johnson. He is a beast I will say that. He is a better #1 than ours.

But our core is better.

All of those facts are true...and lets face it I don't have much to brag about. Yes Palmer has a lower rating than Ramsey, but he is a first year starter. Carson is improving and I think you will be surprised if you think your defense is going to shut down our offense.

We've played some great defenses (Dolphins, Ravens, Broncos, Steelers) and moved the ball fairly well. Maybe you guys have a better defense than those teams...we'll see. We're due to win one on the road.

At the beginning of your post you say ours is better, but at the end you say yours is. Which one is it man? No one on our team is mentioned. You will find out about TJ on Sunday. Washington has been a bit bipolar, but has had a few good games. It is close but I think our core has a slight edge.

Dolphins
Record: 1-7
Defensive Ranking: 7th
Points Allowed/G: 20.7
Bengals won that game 16-13

Ravens
Record: 5-3
Defensive Ranking: 5th
Points Allowed/G: 14.1
Bengals lost that game 23-9

Steelers
Record: 7-1
Defensive Ranking: 2nd
Points Allowed/G: 17.1
Bengals lost that game 28-17

Broncos
Record: 6-3
Defensive Ranking: 4th
Points Allowed/G: 17.1
Bengals won that game 23-10

So, you have played three top-five defensive teams so far, and you beat one. And you only put up more than 20 points against the Broncos.

Redskins
Record: 3-5
Defensive Ranking: 1st
Points Allowed/G: 16.6

the whole point is, this will be a close game because brunell is playing QB. If Ramsey was playing all season, you wouldn't be very confident because our team is hitting on most cylinders as is, and with Ramsey we would be close to undefeated right now. Having the worst QB in the league is really killing us...

Hall is also out for this game but we'll be scoring TDs this time around
Chad Johnson will have a bad day versus this defense he won't feel left out though Palmer will have his worst day as a pro and I understand Kitna isn't 100% your O-line is also beat up.....and you haven't played a defense like the one you'll see Sunday
You can really compare TEs because of the scheme that we run ... our TEs are like a extra tackle that can catch ball we also use the HB with is not a position that the Ben Gals are use to seeing. The Defense has carried the Skins thus far and the O will step up this week (it's there turn)
You mentioned your WRs but Chad is really all you have Chad Johnson is no sloch but he's no Roy Williams or Jevon Walker either. Rudi might want to mail it in this week because we will shoutdown the passing game.
Gonna be a good game on Sunday to bad you guys cant win on the road

We beat 2....and I didn't say we scored a lot against all of them. I said we moved the ball fairly well. Listen I don't care how much we score as long as we win.

I hope you guys realize that most fans will be biased when it comes down predicting their team's games. Obviously I don't have much ground to stand on when it comes to my Bungles. They havn't given me much to brag about in the past 14 years. However I do truly beleive that we have good chance to win this game, but I won't be surprised if we don't. I don't get my hopes up too much anymore.

You guys do have a slight edge when it comes to stats but we have young team that is getting better every week(with the exception of all the players we've lost due to injuries).

IF YOU GUYS THINK YOU'RE GOING TO STEAMROLL OVER US, YOU'VE GOT ANOTHER THING COMIN!

I think it will be a pretty close game ..I think we'll come out on top.

I think you can brag about the fact that you've stuck by your team though the good and the bad, most so called fans don't

I only have ONE question:

How does one get to become a Bengals fan???

I mean, my heart goes to you guys. Talk about fan loyalty in the face of total and abysmal hopeless circumstances over their entire history. I have to respect that!!!

But, really, What made you become a Cinci fan?
The name? The uniforms? A. Munoz? Are you from Cinci? I mean, there has to be something.

Another thing...how come we are lucky the Warrick is out? He has been nothing but a bust coming out of FSU. He started to come on last season, but still...nothing Walt Harris couldn't handle.

I don't see Chad Johnson egging on our defense by sending them Pepto-Bismol. I really wish he would, because Smoot or Taylor would shut up that TO wannabe!

Good points, these all show how silly this argument is. Also, just so VA Bengal hears this again, PATRICK RAMSEY is NOT the 'Skins QB, MARK BRUNELL is! If Ramsey was, you'd be toast.

BTW, your offense, as great as it is in your eyes, is ranked 25th in the league, that's almost as bad as ours. You have some good young players but they don't always put it together. At least our D is #1. They're going to blitz Palmer a lot and make him throw a few more ints. If you're last against the rush, Portis is going to have a field day, too. For every argument you make, there is an equally valid one we can, so what's the point?
