Rock v. Trung

We're at the 2-minute warning now...and I had to take a second to post this.

I've been very impressed with Rock's power running today. He is getting a lot of yards after the 1st hit...and, frankly, I like him a lot more than Trung at this point.

I'd like to see him get the ball a lot more!

I'd be lying if I didn't mistake Rock for Trung on a few plays with his moves. Trung hasn't really shown me much in that category thus far. Leave Rock in, and train him to block better.

Didn't Steven Davis start out as a Full Back?? Where is the guy who was complaining we ditched Davis.

Maybe you are reffering to me, because I believe we should have kept him, IF it wasn't for the salary cap situation.

Davis is TONS better than ANY RB we have now.

He can run
He can run people over
He is not slow
O...and here's the shocker, HE CAN BLOCK.

So far, I'd have to say we should stick with Rock. He's hot right now, he has some shifty moves, and he's not super slow.

BUT he needs to work on BLOCKING. It sucks.

I will vote on this pole in two weeks. Trung is proven and averaged over 5 a carry before the injury.

How about Rock or Betts.

i think trung made this start because of the injury situation, the team needed him. however he didn't make his usual cuts and moves, looked like he is still hurting, high ankle sprains can be brutal. but as far a the poll..... rock is running hard, if he has a little more time in the game, his blocks will get better. gotta go with him right now, he looks better and better as time goes on...

He is shifty - but I saw him last year at camp and this year too - his legs are bigger than Trung's - he has some power. That 12 yard run when the LB had his ankles - what strength to break that and run so well. I loved it!

Trung has the speed but tends to go down quickly - meaning it doesn't take a big hit to stop his momentum. Rock is more of a load and forces the defense to stop him with bigger hits or more tacklers. That's what I miss about S.Davis and Riggins. I like the balance of speed backs and load backs that can get you that 2-3 yards.

Ok first of all Rock Cartwright was a rookie last year. You guys need to give this guy some credit. Was Stephen Davis rushing the way he does now when he was on his second year in the NFL? He didn't even fall into the Running Back position until he was in the league for like 5 years. We need to give CartWright some credit here. He could very possibly be of Davis' caliber in 4 years.

One thing I like besides Rock's speed and power is the low center of gravity that he has - he seems to have a great sense of balance - hard to take down.

Trying to be positive big guy :)

The power of positive thinking. :D  Although Rock is nice, dont get me wrong Rock has to earn his 2-3 yards where as Trung has the speed to skip to 5 yrds and use him as a GD receiver. IMO

I'm on the Rock bandwagon after yesterday. We already give him the ball in the red zone for the tough yardage so I say let him get the majority of the carries until he gives us a reason not to.

I wanna do a flash thing showing him running in all sorts of various plays with "Can't stop the Rock" playing in the background. Seems like every time he gets the ball he makes something good happen.

Yeah we all like Rock after yesterday, but lets see how Rock acts after teams start to prepare for him

Negative vibes man - watch that stuff!

Actually, he has been seen as a running threat on short yardage for several games. Last week he had a good game for us against a good D. Seattle wasn't totally unprepared if you think about it.

I'm on the Rock bandwagon also. The guy punishes defenders and softens up the defense. We need that in a bad way. Our offense need to be able to shell out some punishment, rather than receive all of it. This will pay huge dividends in the later stages of ball games.

The pukes d for example is undersized and can be worn down if they are pounded for 2 1/2 - 3 quarters.

I cant help the way you interpret things. Deal with it fella, thats life. Like I said we shall see.

When he starts to do what he did yesterday on a consistent basis, I then will be on the so called bandwagon. If he does I will even get some nice rims for my bandwagon. Show me!!!!!!!!!

LOL - I hear ya....

I just want to feel good about this team after weeks of feeling glum - ya know? :)

I think that Rock can't handle the ball 30+ times per game like SD used to be able to, but then again, there is something to be said with hitting a defense with fresh backs every series or two.

The big question is will Hue Jackson be calling the plays this week. I would like to see where our running game is . I mean at least 25 carries from Rock or Trung. Trung really did not look as good yesterday as compared to previous games and part of his game is skipping, much like Barry Sanders and the he has the ability to be at top speed in two steps.

Stephen Davis is a beaccccchhhhhh!! Glad he is gone :^o :^o :^o :^o :^o ROTFALMAO

And with the ankle injury, one might question whether Trung is at full potential or just pushing himself to come back to help the team. He didn't look like his normal shifty self yesterday... almost all his runs were tentative and straight ahead.

By next week, he should be a bit better and have some of it back.

That's cause he's 4ft 2

But I like him and he has a great name.
