I came here to find out what you guys thought about this weekend's upcoming game, but couldn't find anything. Redskin fans seem to complain about the most recent loss just as much as Lion fans do, but it should be time to get over the previous week and move on to the next. I'll have to admit that I haven't seen much of the Skins this season. I watched part of the Monday night game against the Cowboys, but that's about it. What I find amazing is that you have the top ranked defense in the NFL, but only a 2-5 record. On the other hand, the Lions have one of the worst defenses and THE worst offense, yet they are still 4-3. Most of this can be attributed to turnover differential (+12) for the Lions as opposed to -3 for the Redskins. The Lions have a run but don't break defense. They'll give up a ton of yards between the 20's, but hold steady in the red zone and create turnovers in the process. The Lion's offense usually gets great field possesion because of the turnovers and usually capitalizes upon them, especially when Roy Williams is playing. One thing you don't have to worry about is the Lion running game. If they can't run on Green Bay, they'll never run on anybody. Harrington is efficient. He doesn't put up great numbers, but he doesn't make mistakes either. He will take what the defense gives him. What do you guys think are the strengths and weaknesses of the Redskins? I'd be interested to hear them.

First of all, welcome to our board =)
strengths of the skins are defense and running game. The problem is, we have probably the worst QB in the NFL and that allows the opposing defense to stack the line and blitz more often than they normally would. That negates our rushing attack a lot of times. We've held time of possession in most of our games, but with Brunell QBing, we simply can't score enough points to win games. If not for our defense, we'd be 0-7 looking at the first 0 win season in god knows how long...
I should add that the refs lost us two games so far this season, and possibly three. We should have been up 21-20 last week, but GB would have had 2 minutes to try and get a field goal. Probably a 50/50 shot against our Defense =)

Our offense doesn't click and is inconsistant in the passing game. Unlike Joey Harrington, Brunell makes many mistakes; not so much the interceptions, but he throws it way to high or whatever. He's just not a good qb. A reciever shouldnt have to pause and turn arround and jump six feet in the air to get a catch. He has to work on his passing. In my opinion, Ramsey throws the ball pretty straight, but he cannot move well in the pocket. I guess that's why we're stuck with Mark....
Good defense though.

just no passing offense

Lions will kick our ass. I'll watch b/c I love the skins. I'm content in mediocrity thanks to Dan Snyder.

HitDoctor...wheres the faith?
I'm pretty confident, with that defense on the field anything can happen. I know they will have to win it for us this week.
But don't just throw in the towel HD, have some faith.

Hill,
Brunell is HORRIBLE!!! With that being said, I'm sure the skins will win a game that they are suppose to lose. The flip side is is that they will lose many games they should win.

History shows that the Redskins own the Lions.
It also shows that the Red Sox are cursed, and that the incumbent President goes buh-bye when the 'skins lose the game before an election.
Hmmm.

Even more importantly, history has shown that Joe Gibbs teams get stronger and stronger down the stretch. Look for a much more consistent team in November and December. Things will come together soon, whether Brunell sucks or not!

"Unlike Joey Harrington, Brunell makes many mistakes"
Dont get me wrong Joey is a great QB, (he's from oregon, of course he's great!) but up untill this season, joey has been very inconsistent. He wasn't looking to good at first, but he's matured alot, but hopefully we can force him to make some mistakes that young qb's make. We'll see!

Hate to say this, but we are playing THIS season, aren't we? That would also mean that this Sunday, Harrington will also be playing this season. He's been playing the way Gibbs thought Brunell would play. Alas, Brunell is not. He's the one playing like a scared old man out there.
I predict a close game that could go either way. 14-13 or something like that. Neither team is that good.
It also depends on if we can win another turnover battle, but I think both sides will be about the same with 2 apiece.
Roy Williams is also the another factor. If he's in there, they will be tough to beat. If not, back to that close game I was thinking of.

I don't know about Roy Williams being so hard to cover, boss. There's really no running game anymore, and we DO have the best defense in football. When it's a one-dimensional attack...
Let's be fair and say that the Lions will be as tested as we will.
