Interesting Matchup

I think for when we get down to goal-line situations, On Defense, if we ever get down there.

We should let Sean Taylor Guard Roy Wiiliams. Think about it, if the lions get down to those situations, Smoot will be giving up 3 inches and close to 50 pounds, if we put him on Williams when defending the fade route we are asking for trouble. Springs will still give up 2 inches and 10 pounds.

But if we put ST in there we can match Roy Williams Physically, and seeing if they try to throw the jump ball, we may be talking about a game winning pick Monday, instead, of Williams out jumping one of our corners.

Taylor is bigger, stronger and gives us the best chance of playing him in the red zone.

Then that opens up the middle of the field for the TE I say let Springs and Smoot do what they do

Not exactly. We just move ST to corner for a couple plays to play one on one. and bring in Franz/Clark to play saftey and the other one play strong.

Unless we really shake things up and Let Springs play Free Saftey, which from Monday night live, he claims he can do.

I don't think Roy is going to force us to play two starters out of postion just to cover him. I think either CB will be upto the task

Not to look ahead but...do we allow ST to cover T.O. in these same situations against Philly? I don't know if Smoot or Springs is up to that task.

Are you crazy???? He may have the size and he's fast, but if he was fast enough to cover guys like T.O. or Willaims, he would be a Corner Back not a Safety!

ST has good speed, but he doesn't have quick enough feet to hang with Roy in short yardage... the fade pattern is probably the only thing he could defend, and only if it doesn't come off of a double move... our best bet is to keep them in poor field position, because there's no way they're going to drive the length of the field on our defense... that means we can't turn the ball over... if we do, we lose... if we don't we win...

I have Roy Williams on my fantasy team, as such, I have watched him throughout the year, and the dude is bad. So much so that if he plays, the Lions offense is tough to deal with, and if not, they are what we all have come to expect in recent years from Detroit. However, it seems highly unlikely he will play this weekend (ankle). If he doesn't, you guys can win by just wearing them down with the run and the defense muffling them. You have to be careful with the Lions defense though, the low ranking is deceptive, the get alot of sacks and force alot of turnovers on good QBs and offenses. Given that Boonnel is getting the start, and is pretty damn good at helping the other team get the ball, it may be a long one for you guys....

More likely, you will see Springs with primary responsibility with Safety help, so we will have good base coverage and then ST coming over to help which, IMHO is better than just a straight up match-up.

Besides, RW is 50% of their offense, so we might as well have our leading INT guy on him at all times. He will get plenty of turnover opportunities.

i personally don't thing roy is good enough to bring ST over...he is just comin back from an injury and will not be that effective...that is if he comes back

I think RW is a great player, but I think our primary concern will be getting after Harrington and preventing him from throwing it to anyone or at leat to rush it.

The Lions haven't been able to run the ball effectively at all and if the Skins can stuff the run game with just their front 7, that'll leave an extra man to help the secondary cover Williams (if he plays much).
