Chad Johnson is working him like a rented mule....
4 catches for a buck-16, two of them big bombs, 1 TD....

Isn't Portis leading the NFC in rushing for 6 games and our Pass D like #4 in the league?

I wouldn't brag about Portis, but yes Baily is a overrated corner. Law is ten times better. Smoot is better.

well, its the start of the 4th qtr and Bailey's gotten lit up for 7 catches and a buck-50? Champ who?

What was with our 2nd round pick thrown in for that?

We got shafted? We should have got the 2nd?

Chump Bailey. I wonder if his brother will live up to become Bust Bailey..

Bailey is overrated and makes his living on reputation. I saw Champ play like this all season long last year.

One game isn't a trade bust, but Denver should take the "shut down" corner description out of the media guide. :)

I disagree. Bailey is an awesome corner. The Bengal's were just really desperate, like the Dolphins. When ur that desperate you do the unimaginable. And about Portis, he is awesome, one tough dood. Give him some time...

My take - Bailey is a good corner, but he aptly demonstrated tonight why the Skins front office wasn't prepared to make him the same sort of contract that Denver was. Very good player, yes - franchise player, I'm afraid not.

Exactly, he can be a top performer but he is not worth close to what he's getting. By the way a good quote from ESPN:

"He made a couple of plays," said Bailey, a four-time Pro Bowl player who is rarely burned so often. "That's just the way it is in this league. I'm not afraid of any challenge. That's the way I roll."

They obviously didn't watch the Redskins much last season because I saw Bailey getting burned badly almost every other game!

BTW, Bailey gave up 149yds last night, the 'Skins D is giving up 147.5 on average this year. Also, just saw the highlights, Chad Johnson just ate Champ up. He looked like Ade Jimoh out there.:)

I think Champ Bailey is an incredible player, but he did not come to play last night. However, I would take Springs and Smoot over Champ, especially after Smoot's incredible and painful preformance vs. the Bears. He is truely a Redskin. Springs has been a great cover corner, because you don't hear his name much means he's doing a great job. Another reason why Springs and Smoot dominate is because they both have made HUGE plays when they blitz, causing costly fumbles that made an impact. Our corners RULE!!

Yup, I don't think either guy has the same physical ability as Champ but they are smart and ALWAYS bring their best efforts. They may not be true shutdoen corners but neither is a guy who can't get it done a few times a year. I always liked Champ but I just don't think that he has ever had the mental toughness to be as good as he should be. It upsets me when the press call him the best corner in the game and bash the Redskins by saying that the Portis trade was a bad idea. I think we all have seen Champ play over the years and although he showed amazing talent, his last couple years have not been that good. IMO he is overrated. He is an amazing player but he is not a shutdown corner because he does not shut guys down on a consistent basis! There is no way that he was worth what he was asking.

Where's that Denver troll now...the one that thanks us (ladies) for the Chump/Portis deal? <<listening, hearing nothing but crickets>> Nope...he's not here for a taste of his own medicine.

I think Bailey is one of the best corners in the game, but right now, I'd rather have Smoot in there. I think Smoot and Springs play well together, and have the type of chemistry needed for the two of them to excell. They each feed off the other. Neither one would be considered "shut down" corners, but I'd take the two of them over just about any pair in football right now.

What makes you'll think Denver is down on the trade?? They have the number # 2 D the # 1 rucshing O and are in first place in there division?? They ran into a very hyped up Cincy team last night that would've beat most teams last night. Our corners face their toughtest test this week!

I always thought Champ was a great player, but I never really felt that he "left it all on the field" the way some less-talented guys do.
