Did anyone notice in yesterday's game that the right defensive end of the Bears was totally unblocked on many plays?

I realize that it may be possible that this was done purposely, but the guy was way too fast to allow him to roam free in the backfield.

He had several sacks and tackled Portis in the backfield many times. It was driving me crazy!!!

They let him free as a phsycological move. He was supposed to think, "hmm, they didn't even block me. It must be a quick hitting play where I don't have a chance to make a play so I should just stop.". Unfortunately, Alex Brown made us pay repeatedly.

Maybe psychological for the 1st or second play they attempt on him, but dude was way too fast for this "psych" play. So I hoped that a half time adjustment to him would be made, yet they started the second half w/much the same "blocking scheme" and they guy just went off on Portis again.

... and he feels really guilty about it today. He had a dream he was sleeping with a farm animal. No funny business, just sleeping. When he woke up his fingers were... man I can't even go there.

A. Brown went off! Even when Samuals did try to block him, he was in Brunel's face... when was the last time the 'Skins had a D-lineman with a game like that? Dexter and Charles?

Alex Brown (from? Flordia), was a pure speed guy coming out of college. He was drafted mid-round and the Bears were not sure if he would be able to play vs. BIG tackles.
Over the past couple of seasons he has put on a ton bulk which has helped him play the run and also has enabled him to add the bull rush to his package of moves.
The reason why he was 'unblocked' on the short yardage play is because the linebacker and dt(in gap) is more of a threat on that play. However, Brown was was to quick to leave him unblocked...it was a stupid call by the coaches not to make that adjustment. Samules played a avg. game...got beat but also made Brown look mediocore at best the rest of the time.

I agree with you. I have no idea what the plan was! Alex Brown (I think) was the guy in our backfield all day. I the old days, Gibbs would have had a body on him immediately.

Yes I did notice that . That was bolgna .I think we should can pulling our guards and tackles. Line up in a double tight end formation. One receiver on each side and a singleback formation hear me out . Its an even formation which gives the d no clue which way its going . And there are numerous options to explore.A playaction play while the defense is ready for the run . Also theres no full back for the linebackers to key on .With the double tight end you can just block straight up.You still have two extra blocker and have Portis pick his hole. The pulling stuff I beleive is not suited for Portis. Portis is slashing cutbacking type . We dont have John Riggins back there anymore . Its a new day in age and we must adapt with the times .We also need to use cooley alot more . Just venting a couple weeks of losses but this Last games win was nice wheewwww there feel better now yeahhhh go redskins !!!!!!!!!!! 8)
