Giants slugger Barry Bonds is at the center of another steroids controversy after statements made by his trainer.
In Saturday's San Francisco Chronicle, Bonds' personal trainer Greg Anderson claimed on tape last year that the Giants All-Star used an undetectable performance-enhancing drug during the 2003 season.
In a recording provided to the newspaper, Anderson said, "The whole thing is, everything that I've been doing at this point, it's all undetectable. See, the stuff I have, we created it, and you can't buy it anywhere else but you can take it the day of (the test), pee, and it comes up perfect."
Anderson is a defendant in the BALCO steroids case in which Bonds has testified. The 40-year old slugger blasted 45 home runs in the 2003 season and has frequently denied that he has ever used steroids. Bonds moved into third place on the all-time homer chart this season after crossing the 700-homer plateau.
Anderson's lawyer, J. Tony Serra, said he couldn't tell Friday if the voice on the recording was actually Anderon's and said the trainer denies providing banned substances to Bonds.
"We sure as hell can't ID it as our client's voice," Serra told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Honestly, is anyone surprised by this? Really?

Just test him randomly and see what you get.We know he is juicing. It's sad because it takes away from the home run record.

They tested him in August I think and nothing came out of it. "Why?" you may ask. Because he most likely took the undetectable steroid.

How do any of us know that he's "juicing"? If his tests are coming back negative what more do you want him to do?

Explain the increase in the size of his head would be good start. Besides asking him to test now is like asking a closing the barn door AFTER the horse runs away.

I maybe crazy, but I don't really care if he juiced up. Sur it makes him stronger and able to hit the ball farther, but it doesn't help him with hand-eye coordination to be able to hit the ball, it doesn't help with his vision to read the pitches coming in or his patience in waiting for the pitch he wants. To me steroids is moot in baseball unless you have all the tools that Bonds has. Besides, it wasn't against the rules of baseball. Only in Olympic sports can they take away your medal for using a substance that wasn't on the banned substance list.

I agree. I don't care one bit if he's juiced up or not. What I want is for him to act like a baseball player when he hits a home run instead of standing at the plate watching it go out of the park like he's some sort of God! He's the complete opposite of the term "team player". No wonder a person of his talent couldn't help his team with the WS.
