I hate to say it but the season is done. 0-2 in the division, with 2 more losses coming when they face Philly and the easy part of the schedule in the past... plus another loss to Dallas... ugh I hate the Cowboys.
Very simple...play Ramsey. See what if he can learn this system. If he cant pull it together by years end cut him and draft/trade for a real QB.
Gibbs stuck with Rypien through 89 and 90 and Rypien won the Superbowl MVP and nearly the league MVP in 1991. Ramsey is allot like Rypien. Immoble, big arm and tough.
Two years under Spurrier's tuteledge may have done allot of damage but I think its fixable.
Whats to loose? We are going to loose with Brunell anyway. Find out if Ramsey is the future, if not, we should at least contend for the 1st pick in the draft.

We are one 1-4.
True we have 2 divisional losses but did ANYBODY think we were going to win the division?

There are 7 teams in the NFC with 1 win.
There are 2 teams with 2 wins.
There are 4 teamws with 3 wins.

Lets predict that Seattle will win the West, Atlanta the South, Minnesota the north (you don't think Detroit do you), and Philadelphia in the East.

That leaves St. Louis, NO, Det and NYG which are two games ahead. Now true, chances are remote at best, but the season is over??? Not by a long shot.

Owe come on, there is no way this team will finish poor enough to get the first over all pick, or a top 5, and probably not a top 10! We have lost 4 games by an average of 5 points. No loss has been by more than 7 points. Our team has given up 85 points, notice I didn't say defense. Subtract the 3 fumbles on Offense that went for TDs and the punt return TD and our Defense has only given up 58. Subtract the gift TD the refs gave the Pokes (the pass interfereance on Harris on third and nine that should have been Offense interference or a non call) and subtract the first TD in the Giants game that Clark didn't catch, but was ruled a TD and you're talking about 44 points in 5 games. On several of those points the Offense set up a short score. Yeah, I know that refs are going to cost you points and the Offense is going to set up short scores, but I have never seen a Deffense tagged for so many points that they didn't "give up". If the Offense scores 1 more TD a game this team is undefeated. If they don't give up those 28 points we are 3 and 2. They cut down on a few of the the other errors and we are 4 and 1. That is a loto f should of, could of, would of's and we ARE 1 and 4, but hopefully we have used up all of our bad luck for the season.

Question, if our offense was clicking from week 1, does anything think there was a game we should have lost so far? I don't. thats what makes me so mad. If we had any sort of offensive production we very easily could be on top of the NFC east right now. Our defense has shut done every one, this is the source of my frustration. Hence, I hate brunell

Has everyone forgotton that if you take away the dropped passes tand the 14 point swing in the cowboys game the redskins would be 3-1? Heck, theres a remote possibility that if those passes were catches, the offesne would have built enough momentum to win the ravens game instead of being totally shut down. The season is far from over, and anyone who thinks dropped passes by NFL wide outs has anything to do with Joe Gibbs or even Stan Hixon for that matter are either panicing or foolish.

I agree that Ramsey should see some action - how much? I don't know... but he should be given some opportunities through the game. Ramsey's not a good sitter, he's got too much talent to lay wasting. Brunell can't be the sole culprit, no way. But he's been subpar at best. It's time to see what the kid can do - who knows, it might spark the entire team!

There is plenty of time left, but we are running out. Make or break this Sunday.

You'll probably think I'm crazy but here goes.

Hoping that Washington goes at least 8-8,

Dallas needs to lose to GB, PHIL, BALT, SEA, PHIL, WAS, NYG
or any 7 out of the next 12 games.

Detroit needs to lose to GB once, WAS, MIN twice, IND, and either DAL or NYG if they beat GB once.

New Oleans needs to loose to MIN, DEN, CAR once, ATL once, and KC or SD.

St. Louis needs to loose to NE, SEA, PHI, NYJ, CAR and GB or TB


If you look at the teams they need to loose to, isn't too far out of the realm of possibility.

I hate to say it but the season is done.

Not until the Redskins play the 16th game...or the last playoff.



My hope is that the whole team begins to play like a Joe Gibbs team. Even if it comes only in the last game...and I think they are a lot closer.

Once they play in a Gibbs-way, they will win in the playoffs. All the rest.

Proof that I'm not just wildly nostalgic? Re-read the Back to the Future posts, and consider that the pieces were being put together, just as they are today.

Notice, in the Dave Kindred piece, just how much the sports columnists know: sure thing, Kindred, that was such a dumbbell trade when Bobby Beathard traded a future number 1 for a 3rd round pick just to draft some offensive lineman named Russ Grimm.

Here's a little insight that I gleaned from the post-game show on Comcast Sports Net last weekend... Donny Warren made the comment that the 'Skins were 1-4, and now they'd start winning. I dunno what he was on, but I sure hope he's right. On a positive note, I also heard that the 'Skins were not penalized once during the game with the Raisins. I didn't get the chance to watch the game, so I don't know that it's true, but I guess there's a fairly good chance that it was. If that's the case, I think that it can be said that a lot of the little "mental mistakes" are being dealt with, which does give me hope. While the offense is not "there" yet, I've seen improvement in each game, so I do have hope for the late part of the season. Am I thinking playoffs? No, but am I thinking "We'll get the #1 pick in the draft?" NO!!! I think we'll end up either 7-9 or 8-8, but eithe rway it'll be an improvement over the "Spurrier era", because we know from past experience that Joe will do what it takes to get the 'Skins back to winning.

Not only are we going to be better than last year (we already are!) but the organisation is planning ahead and I am convinced that Joe plans to leave a great legacy.

I am also very thankful that Dan brought back this group and, so far, has allowed them to do whatever is necessary. I do not think we will be that bad this year that we are going to have a high pick, and we do not have a 2nd round choice BUT we do have a number of picks. We also are seeing some players emerge from this group that are going to contribute and they're young!

As we have seen from the "back to the future" posts this is early and we could be in for another incredible experience.

Once again, I'll call it a rebuilding year. Let us stick with the players we have through next year, so we can get together as a team. If we would stop exchanging half of our 53 man active roster every SINGLE off-season, I think the chemistry would be better. Gibbs is the man.

Don't forget, all of our losses are by 7 or less points. . . that means if our offense clicks at the slightest bit, we will start winning games.

We went almost the entire game without penalties, but started getting sloppy there at the end. We did get two or three holding calls in the last six minutes.
This season is far from over.
A.) Philly is a sprained ankle away from a losing streak. Only GF would argue that with me, and he'd have his work cut out for him trying to convince me otherwise.
B.) Dallas is no longer a powerhouse. Simply slightly better than average, with a great coaching staff. (They beat us, though !!)
C.) The Giants have been lucky. Warner could self-destruct at any time. As we've shown, you can't win 'em all on defense alone, and Manning is not ready. Maybe Brenda could step in.
D.) Aside from the Eagles, Falcons (Vick is overrated this year) and maybe Seattle...the NFC is wide open. Hell, even Favre can't get it going this year.
There's still time. We have four losses.
There have been teams in the playoffs lately with 9-6 records.

The season is over if Brunell and that pathetic offense is left in there. We have lost to 2 horrible teams, Cleveland and Baltimore (who only has a defense). We have no chance of beating Philly and we always loose to Dallas. You cant contend for a wildcard if you loose to division teams like NY, who look to be going for a wildcard.
Lets figure out if Ramsey is worth what they are paying him.
Lets see if he is the next Rypien. He has shown spots of brilliance in 2 years but he definitley needs Joe Gibbs to show him the way.
I am actually confident that Ramsey can lead this team, maybe not a winning season this year but next year.
4 straight losses is not insurmountable but after the Bears the schedule gets brutal. I still say our best bet is to find out what Ramsey can do in the Gibbs system.

I was going to try and help here but I can tell we are too far gone (IN YOUR OPINION) to be able to help! You give me the impression you're a "glass half empty" kind of person. And that signature kind of confirms everything.

We are going to be a better team this year and in the future because NOBODY that is going to make a difference feels like you.

There are a number of very positive posts this week, especially the thread by TCWest and the "back to the future" threads that might help.

I wish you well and hope the team gets better very soon for your sake. I know that when we look back on this season we are going to be pleased with where we are and what we look like being in the future.

But then - my glass is half full (or 5/16)
