I think the Redskins should run the west coast offense. That throw teams completely off because they won't expect that. Second the type of runner that it needs is a recieving - cut runner which is Portis,

ey would do great in that, with our recievers coles, Gardener, Mcants, and Thrash we could do it. In theory it fits Brunell's short passing game. I think Brunell should be benched but if he isn't. Rock could be the fullback or Sellars. Don't get me wrong its not going to happen, but it would be a good idea.

No, it is not going to happen. -And- no, it is not a good idea.
Joe Gibbs has always been an innovator, not an imitator.
He will adjust the offense to fit his players. But he will never imitate anybody. He would do a poor job at it too. Nope, not a good idea.
And -yes- fortunately, it will -NEVER- happen. It would be very boring. Most importantly, innovation is the way true geniuses have taken. The rest... They may wish to be the 49ers of the 80s. Nothing wrong with that, take the Eagles. Just not good enough for Joe Gibbs.

It would take too long to get everybody to learn it in a week.

Yeah, the West Coast offense in a system that lives and dies by its timing. Even Jerry Rice took a few years to adjust from Joe Montana to Steve Young when running that infamous cross pattern because Steve Young was left handed. Once they got that timing down, the teamwork there was simply deadly to other teams.
Do we honestly think that the Redskins could do well with the abandoning of a system, the learning of a new one, the adjustment of packages/personell all against us while the only thing going for us would be the element of surprise?

I meant a change for next year, becuase these players don't fit Gibbs system. Brunell doesn't have a strong arm, Portis is not a bruiser and we are tied up with these players for a couple of years. That is why I think they need to change.

If you are looking to the future, the first thing you need to figure out is who our QB will be.

Here's the only system you need to worry about.
Blocking and Tackling. Block the Defensive guy, Tackle the guy with the ball.
I've seen Gibbs change systems in mid season plenty of times. Hell, I've seen him change systems during halftime.
Mark Rypen was about the most God awful QB I've ever seen and we one with him.
The "system" Gibbs employs will work and it will work with the guys we have. Everybody talks about Gibb's smash-mouth football but if you look back on the stat's we threw the ball a lot, expecialy in the first half of a game. We did most of our running in the second half to sit on a lead.
