Ok here I am again after another loss trying to talk some sense into “the best fans in the NFL” I have spent the morning reading some of the posts here and am just amaze at some of the comments. Yes you’re entitled to your opinions as am I. Every coach since Gibbs left has been given more respect after 5 games than Gibbs has. As I was driving home (to Delaware) last night I listen to Redskins fans call in and just bash the Skins, Gibbs and the whole organization. I guess that’s what makes us the best fans in the NFL. As I lost the Redskin station I switched over to the Ravens post game, one caller commented how much he enjoyed having a “extra” home game. He was right there was way to much purple in the stadium last night.

Of all the things I heard last night only one thing stands out. Our beloved head coach Joe Gibbs asks that we all stick together; he said he believes we are a good football team, but that it could easily change if we don’t stick together. You could hear in his voice and when he talked about the offense not performing, that the comments were directed at the team with the D in mind. Gibbs doesn’t want to D to start blaming the O. He’s trying to build something here again, and Fred Smoot’s comments after the game indicated that it’s working. He talked about losing as a team and winning as a team…no “we’re all losers now” comments or the O blaming the D for not holding the lead.

Guys, Gibbs has more to do here then coach football. He has to change a culture of losing; he has to teach these guys how to win and how to be a team. I for one see many improvements that are intangible given time it will translate to wins so cry all you want, I for one am going to see to it that I do my part as a fan of the team…no opposing fans in my seats. I think sometime you guys forget who’s coaching this team, I haven’t and I also heard what he said…Let’s Stay Together!

DEHog you are one of the best posters that make this forum as good as it is. Sensible comments go a long way to make us pull together as a unit.

Thanks. :!:

I don't think we can be called the best fan's in the nfl. At the game last night we had about 5 minutes left if I remember correctly and we had the ravens around the 5 yard line and only down a td. And boom, the crowds we're heading to the exit. I sat surrounded by purple. It mad me sick. No wonder the Defense let lewis march down the field, it suddenly became baltimore south. People should be able to critize as much as you want, but for christ sake, don't leave a winnable game early. I think its the culture of the ownership starting from the time danny dumped turner with a winning record. I sold my packers tickets since I have to go to a wedding, stupid wedding, but I sold them to REDSKINS fans.

doroshjt,
Do you really think that that game was winnable after the Ravens went up by 7? The Ravens pride themselves on winning those types of games and most of their wins are exactly like that. Our offense had done nothing all game and had as much chance as a bleeding blind man in a tank full of hungry sharks. I have been a been a Skins fan since 83 and always will be (unless Dan Synder packs them up in a Mayflower van on a snowy January night). But this team for the past 12 years has been the Anti-Raven, in other words they almost always find a way to lose a close game. And even the Greatest Coach of all time will have a hard time changing that. Now, don't get me wrong I am not jumping of the Bandwagon, I am just not hiding my head in a Burgandy and Gold pile of sand any more. This post is not ment to belittle you but just to state why a lot of those fans might have been leaving. Had I been there I would have stayed until the end. (I have tickets to the Minesota game and right now I think that will be a quite ride home and an even longer offseason)

Good post DE...you're right ! And I'm wearing my purple and black at work today because I LOST a bet...BUT....I do have on my Redskins Pin, Earrings and several Redskins Gold Charms on a gold chain around my neck. It's just sooooo hard to lose to those arrogant obnoxious teams / fans and yes..there was WAY TOO MUCH PURPLE in the stands...If I can't use my tix or give them to a SKINS fan...they will sit in my nightstand drawer to avoid that kind of crap happening !

Have to agree with you here DE.
I'm the biggest basher of the Skins there is but figure I deserve the right since I've been going through this for so long and so many coaches. But I will NEVER leave a game early and NEVER not wear my colors.

To put in a little hope for everybody.
The Gibbs' Skins were allways the cardiac skins.
It allways drove me nutz that he almost never blew the other team out of the stadium. As bad as we suck on offense right now, it's a short jump to be winning these games.

Of course it was winnable. We had them pinned back right near there goal line with plenty of time left, if we make the stop and who knows what would happen. Brunell somehow turned it on at the end of the cowboys game, he could have found away. Hell, morton could have gotten his first big return of the year. The point is, you never know whats going to happen. Last drive TD's are not un heard of and this sport. Every team wins a game eventually, why couldn't it happen.

Because we have a quarterback that is averaging less than ten yards per throw. Last night it was less than 3 yards. Clinton, as bad as he ran, nearly gained as many yards running as Brunell gained throwing. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE.

It's almost TOO painful to watch.

Of course the game was winnable, just not by this current group of Skins. The Cowboys' D is good, but the Ravens' D is on a whole different level. And the Cowboys were going without one of their starting coners. Brunell actually threw deep to Gardner in that game (and he got away with pushing of almost every play, but you still knew that the Skins were getting the L). My point was, that that was the type of game the Ravens win and the Skins lose. The fans new it. Some of the Skins new it (why do you think the D couldn't stop Jamal all of a sudden) and the Ravens DEFFINATELY new they were going to win. That pains me to say that, but it is the simple truth.

I disagree DE. I am a huge fan and I could not get to sleep last night after the game-going over every play in my head thinnking "If that one play would not have happened, maybe we would win". But I was not out on the field and I don't feel we, as fans, have to all stick together. right now we look horrible on offense. I don't care if it is Gibb's, Brunell, Portis or the entire O-line. I am pi**ed because our offense has sucked for too long. I am fed up with it and cannot be optimistic until we start winning some games. Until then, I will sit and watch every second of every game, cheering and getting excited for every play over 5 yards in hopes that this will turn around but I will not pretend to be okay with the fact that we are losing just because Gibb's is back-but I am loyal and always will be loyal no matter what.

If you thought there was a lot of purple in the stands last night, wait until the Giants and Eagles play here later this season. It's going to be a home game for them!

Ugh.

Apparently from our loyal fans, this is ok since we're not good. No need to cheer on the team, we can't possibly win, lets get on ebay. How pathetic.
