Brunell vs. Ramsey or Portis Problems

Ok. After seeing tonight's game against the Ravens, I perfectly convinced Ramsey is (needs to be) the new QB. I like Gibbs thought on Mark being a veteran, but if you ask me, Ramsey did a great job of leadership, passing, and energy on the field last year. Do you remember the o-line he had...not the Dirtbags. Our offense sucks. Will Gibbs make the switch?
What about Portis? What are we not doing right. He looked great the first game, but now it looks as if he's scared. He keeps giving up and ducking his head before running. What's up with that?

he keeps ducking the the so called "dirtbags", which they play like literally, cant even block a punter. clinton tries to run through the holes in the middle, but the 10 defenders all collapse that hole and he cant do anything. plus its better that he ducks because of his small frame, it is easy for a guy like him to get hurt.

The Gibber is the King. He is the one in whom we as Skins put our trust in, but is it possible to step in and just let the Gibber know we want Mr. Tulane to take a shot at it. At least he's got an arm on the boy. How can we convince the man of this. But he is the Gibber, so maybe we must just TRUST.

I agree Ramsay should be put in,if we are going to lose, let Ramsay get the experience for next year.
As for Portis, He runs to the center on the line and stops. The OL doesn't open holes for any runners, that should tell you to vary your runs one up the middle and two to the outside. Not all in the center of the line.
Every DL we have played against beat us at the line. You can't run thru there.
We need a John Riggins type back(which we don't have) for this OL.
Pay Brunell for this year and send him home.Have Ramsay as the starter.
Joe Gibbs is a great coach, but Brunell will not carry us anywhere.

Gibbs needs to get his eyes checked. This whole thing about a vet. QB is just stupid. Brunell I think is past vet. status. He is horrible, never once looked like he knew what he wanted to do out there. There was times when he was under some pressure, but there also was times when he had a TON of time to throw the ball.
Brunell has totally forgotten about a man named Gardner. At least with Ramsey in the game he throws catchable balls...
Another change that Gibbs needs to make is some questionable play calls. Short yardage is simple...tell the OL to drop their skirts and grab their b@!!s and kill someone, and we need Sellers as the FB and Betts as the RB. Plain and simple, least this part of the game has not changed over the years. And one more thing about short yardage....YOU DON'T TOSS, espacially with Betts...I can see maybe Portis...but not Betts.
One last rant, who in the BLUE MOON is the guy telling Gibbs to challenge plays? Seriously, tell Gibbs he doesn't have to pay me I can clearly do a 1,000,000% better then the guy that is up in the booth right now.
And Portis needs to start running with his legs not his mouth...thats it I'm done.

Joe needs to get off of Brunells d*** and see the light. Forget that Veteran foolishness, he's done.
OMG!!!! The man had protection, he's just not making the throws. I think you are getting the timing confused. Just because our Defensive front alone can't create pressure doesn't me we're entitled to 10 seconds to throw the ball. 4 seconds, Brunell has had that. He can't push the ball downfield. He's lame.

Neither. They both suck. I really think that most of your good QBs are going to be drafted in the top 10 of the 1st round. I remember when we drafted Ramsey. A lot of scouts said the Redskins really reached for him by drafting him in the first round. They said he was a late 2nd or 3rd rounder. Gibbs was smart to bring in a veteran QB, but Brunell hasn't turned out like everyone hoped. I don't know what the problem is. Is it our O-line? Is it the QB? Is it Portis? Is it the play calling? Again tonight, we turn the ball over in the other teams red zone and the defense scores. And just when I thought our special teams improved from previous weeks, the Ravens return a punt for a TD. Pathetic.

We all know that Ramsey should start. But it will not happen next Sunday. Da Bears will be Brunell's test. After that Joe will make a decision.
The only question is:
Do we really need this kid to be "protected" by this OL???
Man, I disagree with those who argue that protection is good. I do not think the OL is either protecting the passer or openning holes for the RB.
We are short of dominant OL. Chris Samuels is the exception to the above. I wish we had four of him but I will take two Jansens and two Samuels any day.
Ramsey will need time to throw deep.

Its do or die for Ramsey. We need to get ready for the future. Brunell IS NOT OUR FUTURE, he's 90 for crying out loud. Patrick sadly is our future. He's been ruff, the season is done let the man LEARN NOW WHEN IT DOES NOT MATTER!! Let him prove to us that he's the man. If he is keep him, if not draft a QB. We dont have time to hold these players hands. They are men, who make millions of dolllars to play a childs game. I can understand a game or 2 because ur in a funk. But if ur losing games because you are unable to do your job then u need to be benched. Brunell no longer has the skills.

why not tim hasselbeck. may be he should get a shot. i think portis needs to losings up play ball. i know that the ol isn't doing a hell job but he needs to find the hole. the d is going to lose hope if the o doesn't step up and make some plays. must of the game the skin had good field possition and couldnot get pass the 50 yardline. three turnover and only 10 points whats up with that.

The line wasn't that bad tonight. Granted it wasn't the greatest but most of the pressure came from sacks. Brunell wasn't able to step up in the pocket and buy time. Now that I think about it Ramsey doesnt know how to do that.
We're screwed.

Chris,I totally agree with your comments. If we are going to lose lets do it this year and give Pat this time to play himself into the starters roll.

Don't say that out loud. You're going to make the Brunell lovers hate you too. LMAO

Sure, the Skins could do that. Just make sure there's a bucket and a sponge ready on the sidelines to pick him up before every punt. Oh, and don't trade away that first round pick just yet, you'll need a new QB to groom.

1. We can't make judgements on whether Brunnell held the ball too lomg unless we know that the receivers were open. That's impossible to know from TV, and hard to see in real-time at the game.
My impression is that Gardner couldn't get open. The Ravens defenders are better than the Cowboys defenders.
The game films will tell the true story.
2. The engine of the offense is the OL. Not the QB, unless is is a HOF'ers's HOF, like Sonny.

There were times that I saw receivers open and brunell hit three feet in front of their feet. He can't throw long, and now he can't throw short, and apparently he can't see a blitzing corner running 40 yards full speed at the line of scrimmage. Why didn't he stall the count by a half second. Look around some christ. If there are any brunell fans left, they must not have watched the game

we cannot draft a quarterback... if we draft a qb next year are you willing to have another season like this one? b/c a rookie quarterback will make more mistakes than brunell or ramsey...and do you really think vinny cerrato will draft the right qb?
we have to play with the deck we have been dealt...quarterback is a moot point b/c our line sucks...

seems pretty clear that ramsey should be in. he may not be great, but at least we'll know sooner rather than later. ramsey did look weak against the giants, but brunell et al had already blown that game. think about it this way: ramsey had one tough game. brunell has been pretty bad in all five. we've got to try something new, and i think gibbs will eventually see that.

I am officially OFF the Brunell bandwagon.
I stuck with him for the sake of stability of the team but it is now time to put Ramsey in.
EVERY ball Brunell throws is either under or over thrown. Ramsey catches his receivers in stride and that is basic for a QB in the NFL.
RAMSEY TIME PLEASE!

says SI's peter king, who is generally out of it... gets one right this time:
I think it was really sad to watch Mark Brunell throw all those gopher balls Sunday night. By gopher balls, I mean balls intended for gophers. So many of his throws against Baltimore were short, some of them ridiculously so. Never thought I'd say this so early in the year, but it might be time to warm Patrick Ramsey up in the bullpen.

Time for a change - the offense needs a spark and maybe Ramsey can provide that. Gibbs can be loyal to a fault tho, so I wouldn't be surpised to see Brunell start next week.

NC43 - I have preached patience BUT I also think that Joe and the coaches will take another week with MB and then decide whether to make a change during the bye week. This would give them 2 weeks to prepare everyone for Pat.
