Portis spouts off
Running back Clinton Portis, who declined to speak to Washington area media this week, found time to blast the Ravens' defense on Sirius NFL Radio.
"Nothing impresses me about them," Portis said. "It is a defense, and we have to go out and play ball, and that is what we are going to do. There's nothing impressive about them; it's nothing spectacular about them. We just got to go out and establish what we want to do and don't put ourselves in no [bad] situations and run right at them."

I can't believe some of you guys constantly ripping Portis. I agreee the fumbles have been killer, absolutely devastating, but if this team is going to succeed it will be largely due to his success.

Are you sure that you are not really me, gregory? So far, everything I've read from you is what I'm thinking. Nicely done and great opinions

Hey Champsturf, between the two of us we could turn this thing around! Were you the guy looking for a tape of the Brown's game? If so, email your address and I'll get it to you next week. Thanks for the kind words.

I didn't think this team needed Portis giving this "bulletin board" ammo to the Ravens. Oh well. Time to come out and play, Clinton!

Well actually he didn't initiate this, Ray Lewis was quoted in our newspaper as saying, "Priest Holmes ran for over a 100yards against us, and well... he ain't no Priest"

An understatement. Justice has followed the Redskins long enough that I'm sure he remembers how Gibbs feels about anything that fires up the opponents. Gibbs considers it an expression of very stupid football, of a character weakness.
We have had two slips by Portis:
- attack on Bugel and the OL violates the Gibbs rule against criticizing coaches and teammates in public
- insulting the opponent violates the Gibbs rule that everyone on the Redskins should praise the opponent, and should use even the slightest insult to raise the Skins intensity. Remember how the OL took it before SB 26 when the Bill's defensive coordinator made jokes, probably good-natured jokes, about the Hogs?

Portis has always been a talker.. I think the U of M does it to them. This will be handled in short order and should be a issuse in the future.

That's what I expect. Part of making the players into Gibbs-type players.
It was surprising, though, to see it twice in one week.
