Cleveland Thoughts

Just got back from a long day on the road to and from Cleveland. Great weather for football to say the least. Packed stadium with plenty of barking Brown's fans. Most of them were pretty cool, a few were real assh*les. Saw a fair amount of Redskin fans throughout the day. On to the game. Ugly, very ugly, was the best way to describe it. Both teams offenses were terrible. The Skins had two good drives all day long, the Browns one. The Browns were handed a gift on the first play of the third quarter with Portis's third fumble in three weeks. Portis' fumbles have really killed this team. Most of them have led to seven points, today was no different. Portis just looks so slow to me, or is it that we have such slow developing plays for him? Whatever it is, Portis just doesen't look like the same back from the past two seasons. He will be no where near 1,500 yards rushing this season. Our offensive line just isn't getting much push at all up front. Defenders are on Portis as soon as he takes the handoff. Brunell hasen't done much to excite many people so far. I have never seen so many three and out series's from a Joe Gibbs coached team. Coles and Gardner were very quite, with Coles coughing up another fumble that killed our final chance.

Looking forward, I think Gibbs will have to give Patrick Ramsey a chance. We need a verticle threat very bad right now. Brunell strikes no fear to opposing teams secondaries. Give Pat a shot to see what he can do. The season is slowly slipping away. 1-3 is not were I thought we would be right now. The sad thing is that if we would have had any offense in our last three games we could be sitting 4-0. Oh well, water under the bridge right now. I think Gibbs will make the adjustments nescessary to get this thing turned around soon. It has to start next week. We can't afford many more losses if we are to contend for a wild card spot.

Good post...and I agree that it may be time to start Ramsey. Not because he is "better" but because he has a stronger arm, may spread the offense for Portis...and may simply "spark" the offense.
