Who better than Bernie Williams to hit a homerun that was significant in at least three ways. It:
A.) Clinched the East, leaving the Sox a wildcard
B.) Earned the Yanks the 100th win on the season
C.) Beat the 1961 Yankee record for most HR's in a season.
That's what I'm talking about ! Bern, baby, Bern !!!!!

"Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh Yankees win!" I just wanna beat up Michael Kay everytime I hear that.

Even though the O's aren't my #1 team anymore, I will still continue to hate the Yankees with a passion.

Sorry TC, I won't congratulate you and your boys on this because it is like me saying "Way to go Dallas, you won the NFC East!" I'm not surprised to see them win the division but I think the Cardinals will beat them in the World Series.

Enjoy the feeling while it lasts, TC.

And we all know what happened in 1961!!!!!

You know what I "enjoy" even more????? Knowing that we will be in it next year, the year after that, the year after that & so on!

There's a song I heard a few years back that included the line, "It was a happy day, but kinda sad..."
That about sums up my feelings here.
I miss Zim quite a bit. My feeling for Steinbrenner really took a dump that day, and they didn't have far to fall, anyway. I'm pretty sure I saw Bernie Williams in pinstripes during the regular season for the last time, and that's hard. I can see the sun setting fast on this franchise. The core isn't as stable as it was, and the prospects aren't staying around like they used to. Jeter's getting older. Giambi may never recover; he never was the player we thought we were getting. Mussina is hot/cold/hot/cold/colder.
How many free agents can they really bring in beofre Torre is talking to a room full of Prima Donnas who have no interest in maintaining the Yankee way ?
Plus, there's a lot of talk about taking a wrecking ball to the ballpark. If you've never been to Yankee Stadium, you should go. Even if you hate the Yanks, you should go. It's one of the last, great ballparks. You can see everything from almost anywhere.
Jake, you may be right about St. Louis.
Me ? I feel like we've already won. Boston, with Schilling, is a wildcard. Pedro says we're his daddy. (We must have been drunk. What an ugly baby. :) )

All the Yankees are going to do is what they have done last year and the year before last year and the year before the year before last year.

They're gonna choke!!!! They have no starting pitching. They'll be lucky to get pass the first series in the play offs. Their hitting is good but its not good enough to make up for the runs all of their starting pitchers will allow.

 They're just gonna loose AGAIN!!! And I'm gonna laugh AGAIN!!!!

If we get beat, we get beat, but "choke"???? I don't think so! If you get to the Playoffs every year since 96 & you lose a couple of time in that span, it ain't "choking"! You may be "choking" on those words, that's about it! You CAN'T win every year, but we have as good of a shot as anyone! Everyone (including you) is praying that our starers collapse, because that will be the only way that anyone has a shot against us.

RedskinsRule, you just took yourself off my Christmas List.
A lot of Dallas fans come across like you.
Nice job. Feel proud, son. I'm sure mama does.

I don't Like the Yankees, I have never liked the Yankees, :? Never had a reason to like them or dislike them for that matter. I don't really follow baseball.... I will next year, now that DC will have a team. That being said you have to tip your hat to a team that's in the hunt year in and year out, though most years they ARE the hunted....Congrats Yankees and their fans

Not a choke. Not even close.

The Yankees have almost no pitching; it is an expression of grit and class, named Jeter, Posada, Williams, Matsui, that they won the division. Again. For the seventh year in a row.

OK, no World Chamionship without pitching. Big deal.

OK OK OK......Its not a choke its just losing.

And TCWest, comparing me to a Dallas fan is pretty harsh. I never would compare a fellow Redskin fan to a Dallas fan especially if all he said was my baseball team is going to lose. I don't know why the heck you think that, but I really don't care. I hate the Yankees and I always will if that makes me a Dallas fan in your mind then so be it.

You can hate the Yankees and be a gentleman about it, if you're gonna be an idiot and/or make unrealistic comments, that's what a Puke fan would do.

Anyway, the Yankees have nothing to prove! We've dominated MLB since 1996 (to say the least), that's a fact! No team can win the WS every year, but their isn't another team that will compete and be right up their every year like the Yankees have been and will be for years to come. Look at the Marlins, they win last year and they don't make the playoffs this year!

No, RR is right. That was too harsh.
My bad.
