Bryant Told Police of O'Neal Payouts
July 2003 report says Laker alleged then-teammate bought women's silence. Center's agent denies it.

Hours after his sexual encounter with a hotel employee in Colorado, Kobe Bryant told investigators that Shaquille O'Neal, his Laker teammate at the time, had paid up to $1 million to women to keep them quiet about "situations like this," according to a police report.

An Eagle County, Colo., detective wrote in a report that Bryant made the comment near the end of a lengthy interrogation on July 2, 2003, about allegations that Bryant had raped the woman, then 19, in his resort hotel room.

O'Neal was informed of the comment last September, about two weeks before Laker training camp opened in Hawaii, when prosecution investigators made an unsuccessful attempt to question him. His agent, Perry Rogers, said Tuesday that the allegation in Bryant's statement was untrue and "undeserving of a response."

Dang! If this story is true, you really have to give props to Shaq for handling it the way he did. Even if its true that is violating a sort of unspoken rule between players, no one will trust him anymore. Wow! That's a big story. Expect to hear more soon

Kobe will continue to be a loner... who's gonna want to (risk) hanging out with him now?

See to me that isn't anything against Shaq. There are women out there that realize and take advantage of the fact that "Kobe's charge" is a very sensative issue. They can claim it and if anyone questions them or the validity of it, it makes the questioner look bad. These women use that to their advantage and could easily extort money from someone like Shaq whose rep is already somewhat rocky. So to me that's all it is saying. Not that Shaq did these things but that he paid someone off, not to claim he did. I think he's guilty like Kobe of an affair not nessecarily anything more.

I have no changed my mind about Kobe one bit. I believe if this girl had truely had reason to bring those charges they wouldn't have been so easily dropped.
