Brunell may play on Monday
Ashburn, VA (Sports Network) - Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell, bothered by a strained hamstring, practiced on Friday and could possibly see action during the team's Monday night battle against the Dallas Cowboys.
Brunell took around one-third of the snaps during Friday's session, the first time the 12-year veteran practiced this week. Brunell suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday's 20-14 loss to the New York Giants and is listed as questionable on the team's injury report.
Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs still said Patrick Ramsey will likely start on Monday, but has not ruled out the possibility of Brunell being under center.
"Mark feels a lot better," Gibbs said. "We will just continue to monitor him. Patrick took most of the work."
Brunell was acquired by the Redskins in the offseason and beat out Ramsey for the starting spot during preseason. For the year, Brunell is 23-of-32 for 217 yards and a touchdown.
