For all of you who want to start Hasselbeck against the Cowboys, here's a little trip down memory lane:

"Washington's Tim Hasselbeck pulled it off last December with his 6-for-26, four-interception performance against the Cowboys."

Note the opponent... Patrick's three interceptions don't look so bad now do they?

Air Hog have a little faith man. Ramsey's young and has been in two distinct offenses and has had one real coach for 6 months.

And it could always be worse...we could be starting Tony Banks.

I agree. Just look at some of the post from last year and most people were praising PRam as the next great Skins QB. I hope y'all don't pull a hammy jumping of that bandwagon. I know he has played like crap, but come on a little faith & support never hurt. I am sticking by Ramsey I think he will surprise us (the good way) with his play this Monday night. A good RB & a solid Defense can work wonders for a young QB.

Are you sure you are a fan of the team?? I mean I remember cheering for them when we were 5 and 10. If you didn't then I don't consider you a fan. I mean really tear down Testeverde like that. Tear down the Dallas D like that. Do not direct it at one of our own. Especially when you have absolutely no right to say it. He has not started a game under Gibbs. Give the guy a freaking chance.

Ramsey has a rocket arm. Once he gets comfortable in this offense, look out. He can stretch the field with his arm, and keep Dallas from putting eight men in the box to stop Portis. Give him the protection and see what happens.

Patrick Ramsey has shown flashes of great ability. His flaws are (sometimes) making bad judgements and holdign the ball too long. The judgements should get better in time. As for holding the ball to long that can also get better in time. Don't go off saying the Man is "damaged goods" or "he isnt starter quality" because he had a few bad games early in his career

I would assume that Gibbs and Co. won't let Patrick try to make orange juice out of the ball this week. They will design plays to the strengths of the talent on the field.

Patrick will shine

Those of you who are dissin Ramsey might as wll be Dallas fans.
How can you call yourself a fan and give no support?
PRam will suprise us all this Monday night.
As a matter of fact, I am so confident in Pat.,
I am starting him this week for my fantasy league.
Joe Gibbs will get Ramsey and the rest of the team going in the right direction.
He already has the team believing.
Now we as fan must BELIEVE!!!

I have all the confidence in the Skins...I'm still sticking with the guns, and say 17-10, Skins.

Hasselbeck is what he is. A quality 3rd string quarterback. Don't give up on Ramsey. How long did we have Rypien around before he became a complete quarterback. I personally think Ramsey is more talented than Rypien was. I was a huge Rypien fan, but he had the luxury of an incredible supporting cast. Ramsey will be fine at the #2 or the starter, but Hasselbeck is entrenched at #3, funny thing is that is what I thought about Trent Green. Maybe thats not so funny.

That is a sad and pathetic statement from a "fan". I personally like Hasselback but I also like Ramsey. Why? Because they are REDSKINS. I am a Redskins fan. I go to the games. I'm hoarse for days afterwards from screaming my lungs out when our D is on the field. I will NEVER turn against my team because it is my team - not just another football team that I might watch with interest. Sure, I'll get frustrated when they underperform (like last Sunday), and I'll be depressed when they lose, but I will always be optimistic that they can find a way to win with whomever is under center. I never say "The Skins lost" or "The Skins won", I say "We lost" or "We won!".

I am a Redskins fan.

/end of rant

This is the kind of crap that's starting to get on my nerves.

Thanks Jake, Niki, et al for putting some sense back into this man!

You wanna know how all this started?

I respect Gibbs, and admit he is one of the greats, but his first mistake in coming back was...

Trading for Mark Brunell.

Now, I understand this IF Ramsey is a rook or even in his 2nd season. But not his 3rd. I said from the day this trade was made that Gibbs was gonna regret it. Not only did he give up a #2 for a QB who's best days are far behind him, but he ended up screwing Ramsey. When Brunell got to DC, Ramsey's confidence took a big hit. It's no coincidence that he demanded to be traded in the offseason. Like I said, it makes sense if, such as the Cowboys do, you have two guys who have never played an NFL snap before. It even makes sense if you bring the guy an tell him "You're gonna be the backup". Instead, you brought Brunell in, gave him a big assed contract, and told him he would start.

This isn't fair to Ramsey (And you want to call Parcells a dick  ) Need I remind you that you threw him to the wolves his first two seasons, under SPURRIER, he can't possibly be any worse than he was then. All that the Brunell signing has done is wreck Ramsey and shaken him. He's now gonna be looking over his shoulder until Brunell takes his job again...

In laymen's terms, Gibbs mortgaged even MORE of your future than Danny Boy had already done (Ramsey and the 2nd rounder) for a QB who will probably retire before his contract runs out. I just can't agree with that.

You post is factually incorrect. Perhaps you should do some research before posting?

I think the draft pick for Brunell was a #3. Nevertheless any derogatory statement about Joe Gibbs is ridiculous. Parcells IS a very arrogant unlikable guy. Gibbs exudes class. He succeeds at everything he does but does it with humility and class.

It's not false, is it.

The draft pick was orignally a #2, my bad forgot that they dropped their asking price (The #2 was in the Portis trade, then yes?)

Go on, I didn't say anything derogatory about "Your Savior", all i did was point out the continuing hypocrisy on this board in the fact that this was not the smartest of moves. Brunell is not gonna lead you to anything. You'd have been MUCH better off just letting Ramsey be and bring in some OTHER vet...to BACK HIM UP!!!

I understand that in your eyes Gibbs can do no wrong...but he was wrong.

People, let's not forget who the last Redskins QB to beat the Cowboys was. That would be Patrick Ramsey. Give the kid a break. He may be a third year QB with 16 NFL starts, but come on. He is learning an complicated NFL system this season as opposed to the simple chuck'nduck college offense. He is unlearning all of the crap that Spurrier tought him and he has had to do so while splitting snaps with Brunell and then getting only 10% of the sanps in practice since Brunell won the job.

Let's keep things in perspective guys. We have only had two games, and only one bad game. For those who weren't around for the first Gibbs era, let me shed some light. He is a great Coach, he is one of the winningest coaches of all time, but that doesn't mean he is perfect on everyday and it sure doesn't mean that his teams play perfectly or went undefeated every year. Just sit back, relax and watch as one of the best coaches (if not the best coach) of all time molds this team in his image and delivers us back into a legitimate team.

And wasn't he 0 - 5 in his first year before he adjusted to the personel which he had? What if we see a similar change as he molds his game plan to this team and the changes in the NFL over the past decade?

It is hard to be patient, but man am I going to enjoy this Gibbs era. We're even keeping the Giants loss on tape at my house just to have that extra footage of Gibbs (we usually don't keep losses for obvious reasons).

The '81 Skins made a lot of mistakes in those first 5 losses. He had some strong, fine guys from the Allen/Pardee years, and he had a lot of very young guys. Note the name of this site: Grimm and May had just been drafted, Big Joe J was a free-agent (or late round pick), Bostic was the same. All new.

It took time to work through the mistakes. Little Joe Washington, if I remember correctly, kept making spectacular plays and fumbling. It took time to sort out who was steady under pressure.

Gibbs has seen a lot of players, and nothing much has changed in the NFL since he last coached. Eight men in the box? Nothing new. That was the standard defense against the Redskins. That's why Gibbs does not favor either the run or the pass: they balance.

Oh, well...enough. I want to see them beat Dallas, and I'll be shouting for whichever QB plays.

Easy now fellas. This is a week for high emotions. Some people vent in different ways. Personally, I think Ramsey has more talent than Brunell has ever had. He's just gotta put it together. He needs improvement with his confidence - when that happens - not IF that happens - Patrick Ramsey is gonna be a legend.

Remember, Ramsey is the ONLY Redskin quarterback in the last 7 years to beat the Cowboys (12/29/02).

He'll be fine, he practiced with the first team all week. Just hopes Gibbs opens up the passing game. That is what Ramsey is best at....he seems to have trouble throwing the intermediate passes.

I think the last QB to beat the 'Boys, was Heath Schuler, right?
