Phil Simms on FedEx Field

The Redskins have more questions than the Cowboys, but one thing they have going for them here is home-field advantage. FedEx Field, with Joe Gibbs back as coach, has become a tremendous home-field environment for this team.
They had over 90,000 for the home opener two weeks ago, which is awesome. My son, Chris, was there on the sidelines for the Bucs-Redskins game, and about his only comment to me was, "It was really, really loud." He couldn't get over how loud it was -- and he was a spectator many times in RFK for the Giants-Redskins games when I was playing.
So the game Monday night should be fun. And you know both coaches will be determined to win.
To those going to the game, make sure you get buzzed before the game. Yes, you are louder when you drink...it is proven.

I'll try, not sure if 5 hours in the parking lot will be enough though:)

The buzz from the city alone will be loud. The Cowboys won't be able to make their play calls. This is very exciting. I'm glad to see FedEx finally coming to life.

If a cop pulls you over just tell em' you're warming up the vocal chords, then sing Hail to the Redskins backwards...that should do it.

Ok - I'm officially psyched for the game! Not that I wasn't before but I'm ready for us to get loud. I took Tuesday off of work for this one so I'll definitely have a good buzz on... and no voice until the weekend!

It's about time FEDX made some noise! I can't wait to see our opponents having trouble getting plays off in time and jumping offsides, like we have a tendency to do on the road. How nice it will be to once again have a home-field advantage.

i was completely horse after the tampa game and will be even worse after the dallas game, 5 hr drive and all

Personally, I don't believe in home field advantage in NFL much more than maybe just having a slight trouble audibling, which is just maybe a delay of game.
On Simms, I don't like him. his son went to Texass. I like Mortenson, though, his son plays for the Arkansas Razorbacks!

Don't forget offensive line men can't hear the cadence when they snap the ball... Therefore it takes the ability to get a jump on the defensive lineman... which screws with there head.... Screwing with there head, keeps them out of focus... causes penalties, break down in their performance, etc.
Crowd noise can be a huge advantage if the crowd is doing it's job right.... it can definitely help beat a team who is not fully prepared for it....

Just because Chris Samuels had about 10 offsides a game and allowed about three sacks a game last year doesn't mean the crowd can help alot... lol

Now, I've never played organized football, and certainly never played OL, but as I understood it, they just move when the ball moves. The reason they nead to hear is to adjust blocking to the defensive set. If they can hear, they may move causing the offsides pentalty, but I don't think that's the same as trying to get a jump on defenders.

No most of the time... Tackles can't even see the ball... especially in passing downs. They're relying on the snap count and the guard beside them to know when the ball is snapped.... This is why, the majority of the time... the Tackle is the one to jump offsides.... If they know the snap count and can hear it, they can get a jump on the defender usually... take their hearing away... and they only can rely on movement....but the DE they're facing can see the ball... which in turn, is advantage defense...
