Brunell has A LOT of incentive to play well -against- Coughlin.

Then again, several Giants players are losing their motivation to play -for- him.

Giants will have a lot of trouble this season. The players and the organisation know it already.

The only bet is: How long before Coughlin is gone?

I will say he may not start next season.

i think he'll be there for a while. i see him doing the same thing that happened in tampa. he'll drop anyone who is "to good" to fit in with his team and replace them. and they'll be a better team for it.

I know im jumping to conclusions but what if you are right and everyone jumps ship. This revolt could be worse than last year when they had Fassel and even more than with the Raiders and their coach from last year.

I wouldnt be surprised if the team just doesnt show up for games literally. Ok...ok i doubt that will happen since they are pros' but i dont see them playing their hearts out. Bad teams need discipline and the Giants were a bad team last year but what he is doing is to the extreme but thats just how I am...some people need that kick in the butt.

And the skins thought Marty was bad...at least he cried when he was leaving....I dont think Coughlin will even flinch if he gets fired. Thats one hard nosed tough guy....ouch for the Giants and ouch for Giants fans.

A player needs to believe in his leaders and a player needs to "buy in" the system in order to make the sacrifices that are needed to play to the maximum of his potential.

That is precisely where Coughlin fails and Joe Gibbs is a genius. Many quotes from our players the fact that they are player their guts not only because they are professionals but because they play for Joe and his people.

Our Skins are convinced about the strength of our coaching staff. They have always been convinced about the loyalty of the fans(notwithstanding the test for patience over the last decade). Most importantly, they have gained a collective confidence that they can compete on an equal footing with any of the best treams in the NFL.

Coughlin and the Giants on the other hand ...

Well, I repeat my prediction: Next season, a new coach for them.

I love confidence, but let's not count out Mr. Coughlin, and his band of not so merry men, just yet... the skins haven't exactly beaten up their division foes over the last few years... The Giants offense, both running and passing, present some tough match-ups for the 'skins...

Sure, I will be delighted to see Taylor vs Shockey.

Even through our own dark ages, we have managed to divide wins and losses.

The predictions made here in NY by their own tv and printed media are not good for them ...

But let us watch and enjoy.

Mutiny isn't allowed it was covered on slide three of the powerpoint slideshow titled The Coughlin Rules. It was right after the part about no tennis shoe during road trips and right before no sunglass (anytime on the sidelines or at practive)

I am sorry for Coach Coughlin. He's a stand-up guy. Very tough, smart and savvy. But with hotdogs and showboats like Strahan and Shockey. Constant conflict - see Tiki Barber. Plus, they've lost too many talented players lately. Coughlin may be the fall guy - but Fassel was too weak to shut down the flappings. Coughlin won't put up with it. If the G-men are going to rebuild - they need discipline. Which won't happen for at least three more years. If I were an owner, Coughlin would be near the top of my list of coaches... not the top, but easily in the top 5.

I think Coughlin can be pretty abbrasive but every coach can be Joe Gibbs . If the owner keeps him around for a while, they'll definately be one of the better teams in the next year or two.

I just hope Brunell doesnt hear Coughlungs voice while playing, he might just nut up.

He's a known comodity "won't change no matter where he's at. The owners know what they are getting... if they need to tighting up a team they know he'll get it done. So when they look for a lawman the go after one that has his own unique law. He'll get enough players to buy in sooner or later then thats all he'll bring in to round out his team. They'll play for him ...as long as they're not caught in public with a hat on

He lost control over who was signed and who wasn't in J-ville. But I agree he did lose them down here...One player was arrested for pointing a handgun at a passing motorist, part of his explanation was "there was nothing in Tom's rulebook pertaining to off field behavior

I think he is getting cranky and old. On the flipside, if he win some games he might get his team back. I just dont think guys are buying into that type of coaching anymore. Just look at Drill Sergeant Schottenheimer. I think it is a sign of the time. Kids growing up with no father figure and all.

Tom's past Old and Cranky. and Camp Coughlin is way worst that what Marty was trying to do. Tom's problem is he is so ridgit he doesn't give they players time to adjust. The vets are the hardest to win over and it seems he comes down on them the hardest

Yep. Sell the vets the cake and maybe the others will wont a peice. Atleast that is what he is trying to instill.

Coughlin knows the tendencies of Brunell.
He "tends" to win.

Who should I start?

Well, both teams feature strong running games. Tomlinson will have his hands full with that NYJ front four, but so will they. Gibbs will want to pound and pound and pound Portis and Betts.
Stat-wise, it's a dead heat. Brunell might have the edge with Stoutmire out, even though he wasn't a starter.
I'd go with Brunell.
