Anyone else concerned with Brunell's long ball

Seems like everytime he's gone deep, including preseason, it's basically been a jump ball. Sure would be nice to be able to exploit the Giant's week secondary. If the safeties start getting bored back there, they're going to be hanging around the line of scrimmage in Portis' face. That won't be pleasant when we face the likes of Roy Williams. Any possibility of replacing Brunell's right arm with Ramsey's?

I for one have also had concerns about our seemingly lack of the deep threat, but I like Brunell, I think he gives us the best chance of having a good year. One thing you will not see from Coach Gibbs is indecision at the quarterback position. Brunell is his guy and he will stick with him as long as he is healthy. Brunell is a winner, the big plays will come. As for Ramsey, his time will come.

no worries here,as long as he runs the offense and controls the clock and keeps the turnovers to a minium.

Speaking of the he Giants' depleted secondary, the picture didn't get any better this week with the news that safety Omar Stoutmire is out for the year with an ACL tear. He isn't a starter, but he plays a lot in certain packages and is a standout on their special teams.

I think that Brunell may still be knocking a little rust off from sitting last year. I know he missed Coles (he threw to someone else) at least twice in the opener when he was wide open deep but Brunell is still getting used to the system. As the season goes on and he gets used to his receivers I think you will see better deep connections.

I think Brunell will be fine. I think as the season progresses, he'll show significant improvement. He did have some positives on Sunday in spite of his overthrown and underthrown passes. He manged the offense well. He was calm and poised, and didn't lose his cool after the botched fumble that allowed the TB touchdown. I like his poise and his leadership qualities.

The long ball and his passes are work in progress, and I think Joe Gibbs is working on that as we speak. I firmly beleive that, as time goes on and his relationships with each of the receivers grow, that he'll show tremendous improvment.

To my amateur eye, it seems like Brunell's long balls passes lack zip as much as anything. The timing is definitely not there, but I have to wonder if he is physically able to stick the ball in tight spots.

I'm hoping Clinton Portis has a field day and amasses 200+ yards which wins us the game, while Brunell falters in limited action which will hopefully make this team Patrick Ramsey's by midseason. Probably not gonna happen, but I'm on the Ramsey bandwagon and I wanna see him under center

Easy now boys. The last thing we want is a QB controversey. Brunell is Coach Gibbs guy, therefor he is our guy. Ramsey's time will come.

Like someone else said Brunell gives us the best shot at winning, long or short ball.

Our Special teams. I think Brunell has zip, he just needs more time with Coles. BUT OUR SPECIAL TEAMS! we will not win in the nfc east if John Hall has to make all our Special teams tackles.

We can just pump the man full of levitra before the game, that'll put some zip in his arm. Might wanna back away from the center a bit though

There is no question Brunell does not have the long ball in his arsenal. Coles was open against Tampa but the secondary was able to close the gap. On the deep ball it seems like he holds on to the ball too long.

Brunell should get close to 300 yds. passing against this sad Big Blow defense on Sunday. Bad cornerbacks, Stoudimier is out at safety. Double team Strahan and the game is over by halftime.

Thats not a amateur eye ..that my friend is a bias eye, but I feel you. P-Ram is the man...... But not right now his time will come. Mark hasn't had enough time with the starting receivers to get his timing down. He's still learning the offense and the WRs plus there's a new game plan every week. Joe Gibbs coached teams pick up the Offense last because of all the motion and sub-schemes, so give him the time to pick it up and get it rolling.... He'll never have the arm that Ramsey has but once he grt the O down and rolling won't be no stopping it

Why on earth would you want P-Ram to be put in mid-way through the season...that would mean that we would be struggling on offense which equals losses. No Thanks.

One of the guys he had long was ey Had two defenders beat for the TD and Brunell underthrew him by 3 yards...

But, I'm not sold on Brunell not being able to throw deep. I think it's more a matter of him throwing a bit late. Once he gets his timing down better, he'll be fine. He obviously can't throw as far as Rypien used to, but it will be enough to get the long ball going.

I also think his accuracy is a bit oof, but as previously stated, it's just rust. He get more precise as the games go. He is one of the most accurate QBs of all time afterall.

Long ball takes timing and Brunell has barely been on the field enough to get into a groove. TB double covered Coles on every play making it difficult to get him the ball.

I do think he needs to let it go sooner on those long passes and trust Coles will be there.

My bro lives in Jacksonville. Most of the people I've talked to from that town HATE Mark Brunnell, and I can't really understand why....
They say he has happy feet in the pocket, and is scared of getting hit (although they won't admit they had zip for line and he spent most of his time fleeing for his life). I think maybe after awhile, he'll be able to stand still, wind up, and get it down the field. Remember Rypien? People had the same knock on him early on too.....

BRUNELL will do fine and i'll take what he did sunday (barring the fumble) every sunday.

Believe me when I tell you that our starting QB has a great touch. Try to remember that he's still kinda new to our guys.
Rome wasn't built in a day. It took two days, and that's about all the games Brunell will need to impress upon you that Gibbs made the right call.
