Turns out obstructed views aren't the only problem with those new seats at FedEx Field.

Members of the Prince George's County Council say the 5,181 new seats should not have been added without their approval.

i think those seats are a slap in the face to the fans personally. if you've been waiting for 8 years to get tix, and they call your name for "lower level, with a partially obstructed view", most people would jump at it and be happy.... until they get there and realize what "partially obstructed" really means.

my girlfriends boss has been a ticket holder for 12 years, and got an offer to upgrade to a partially obstructed seat. he has health problems, and hasn't been able to attend a game yet this year. he can't make it to the tampa game either. he offered to sell amy and i the tix at face value, and i almost got em, because they are lower level...... until he said the 'obstructed view" comment. as soon as he said that the pics that someone posted here after the carolina game immediately came to mind. being that he hasn't been able to go yet, he doessn't know what he has. all i could picture in my mind was a giant concrete column with two 13 inch TV's on both sides of it. :puke:

slap in my face!!

After 34 years of purchasing season tickets. This is our "UPGRADE" at fed ex, sitting in a limited view area. Our seats in the upper deck had a full view. Now we pay 20 dollars more for a limited view. What a joke. My parents are appauled and down right angry.

I mean...I guess everyone has a right to decide if they want to sit there or not. Some people may not mind. As an owner I'd never build seats like that. I want everyone to see as much as possible and these seats just scream "greed" and "Im milking your love for Gibbs for all its worth".

Thanks for posting, HS.

I can't believe they sell those seats under the false-title "partially obstructed" seats. That's really unbelievable.

I remember years ago I use to sit in the corner at RFK on the Mezzanine level on those little bleachers and every time a high pass or put would go up I would loose sight of it until it came down and those seats arnt much diffrent with one small exception.

THAT BIG FREEK'N POLE THAT IS IN THE WAY.

5,000 extra seats at $60.00 per seat (I'm guessing) = $300,000 extra per game X 10 games per season (including preseason) = $3,000,000.

That is gas money for Redskin One.

Well, your numbers aren't quite right. First, not all 5,000 seats that were added this year were added to the general admission levels of the stadium. I think it was around 4,000 added to general admissions, but I'd have to check that figure. Secondly, teams have to share the revenue for general admissions seats, so The Danny doesn't get all that cash to line his pockets. Teams get to keep the entire take for club level seats, however, and the remainder of the seats added for this season were club level seats.

At any rate, there is clearly a market for more season ticket holders (I personally am #90,541 on the waiting list for general admission season tickets), and the Redskins are trying to exploit those resources.

Also, I'm not sure if all of the tickets are like this, but I went to the Carolina preseason game, and had seats not much better than pictured above. The tickets said "limited view" which I think is a pretty accurate description (as opposed to saying "partially obstructed view," etc.).

My uncle just upgraded for a partially obstructed view and it is less than impressive to say the least. However, the thing to remember is that he had a choice, and so if a person is going to be a fool and waste their money for a limited view of the game, then that is his own fault.

I, on the other hand, rocked 3rd row tix at the endzone for the Tampa game...awesome
